Here we are again! Time for the next month's events post.
Do you have anything planned? Have you entered any events in May? If so, then please do give us the details. Just tell us the name of the event, the date ... oh, and a link to the organiserβs website too pleaseπ₯°. We love to hear what you're up to. You may even find fellow VRBs doing the same event.
Weβll add you to our May events spreadsheet docs.google.com/spreadsheet... so we can give you a special mention in our pompom post the Friday before your race; that way all your lovely VRBs can leave a message of support and cheer you all the way from the start to the finish line π₯³π₯³π₯³ We'll all be rooting for you!
We know lots of you have entered the spring HU10 - all entrants will get a guaranteed, automatic pompom cheer and loads of support without having to add your details below. For those of you who are combining HU10 with another event, please tell us all about it below and you can have an extra pompom wave π
Good morning Linda9389. Iβm looking forward to the HU10k virtual on the 19th May Iβm also running in the Run Hereford Running Festival for St Michaels Hospice. However it is only the 5k. 12 May 2024.
Last year as you know I ran the 10k and it was a hardβ¦.ish slog for me I didnβt know the route at all which turned out to be very undulating to everyoneβs surprise and it was very hot π₯΅. I did finish but I was knackered. So this year I opted for the 5k instead.
I am going to do a virtual run for charity with Virtual Runner. The Chase the Rainbow 2024 Challenge. I think I shall choose to run the route I ran when I did my first 10K too !
And just like that, you've turned your HU10 into a very meaningful run. My next job was to have a look for some virtual bling suggestions to post. Would you mind if I include that one in the list?
Morning all, Iβm running the Runaway Train trail race on Sunday 5th May. Iβve opted for the 8.5 miles distance again. I did this last year (the first ever event) and the entertainment was great so Iβm looking forward to seeing what they put on this year. runawaytrain.org.uk/ The Wells festival of running is also held in May entrycentral.com/wfr I havenβt signed up yet but I think Iβll do the 10k. Good luck everyone running in May ππͺπ½π
Morning Linda, Iβm running the Bristol 10k again on May 19th - the same day as the HU10k as it turns out, so doubly excited. π
I love this race, it was when I earned my first piece of bling back in 2019, accompanied by Dexy5 snd UpTheStanley and I havenβt looked back! Itβs always well organised and the crowds are ace. Canβt wait! π
Thank you for gathering our events together. I still have my name on the entry list for my first ever half marathon on Saturday May 18th, I must divulge that if there is such a thing as a cheat half marathon, this may be it!
I clicked on the route expecting it to start and end at the same place and lots of elevation gain, but the route was a line not a loop! The organisers bus the runners to the start and we run down!!! Over 240m descent mainly gentle along the High Peak Trail. I am doing my best to nurse me and my knee to the start and hopefully to the finish too. My aim, as I have heard on here, will be to complete not compete, although I'm aware that if I go a little faster I won't be on my legs so long. Getting excited....
Ooh, that sounds a delightful run! What a lovely choice for a first HM. My Vancouver HM was also point to point and downhill overall. It never occurred to me that that was cheating π
I hadn't realised point to point was a thing. Always more to learn. I wanted a Saturday, not too far from here, beautiful and at the right sort of date. Aw... When I had looked a while back I couldn't find one, but this time I found this one easily. The down hill part is a bonus π
Really looking forward to the 10 miles on 19th May. Iβve done so many of them recently but thereβs a big gap between now and then.
The week before on the 12th Iβm doing the Bromsgrove Fun Run for Blood Cancer with Shake-and-run riderhq.com/o/p/qnnwp1ky/f/... (hope the link works)
My club, Fordy Runs, also has one of itβs nutty Extreme parkruns on 18th May - weβre all meeting up at Yarborough to get our βYβs.
Thanks tail chaser, looking forward to Bromsgrove 10k, nice to do something local.
The very next day (gulp!!) I am walking stage 5 of the Cotswold Way. I'm part of a lovely group of ladies who have signed up to walk the whole 102 miles over the year doing one walk a month. For May there are a few of us who can't make the date in the programme, so we are doing a break-away group walk on the Monday instead. Her's the link to the 'official' group walk rjfitness.co.uk/booking/#/e...
linda9389 just to let you know I wonβt be doing the next stage of the Cotswold Way on the 13th. Apparently that day they are repeating the section I did today. I will do section 5, just not sure when. Definitely doing section 6 in June!
Hi Linda . Iβm going to be doing a half marathon at the Ottawa Tamarackβs 50th Run Weekend on May 26th. No time goal and no stress with a generous cutoff. Iβm looking to finish as got injured before and had to cancel last half marathon. Hereβs the link : runottawa.ca/
am I ok to still get a pom pom cheer (because I'll really need it!!) for myself and some of my running club buddies, as we're off to do the Welsh 3 Peaks 24hr Challenge (Snowdon, Cadair Iris & Pen Y Fan )the weekend of 17th and 18th May -eek!!!! Not strictly running, but a massive challenge for me!!π±
Hi Linda9389. I will be running in my first marathon of the year in Limerick "Great Limerick Run" on Sunday 5th May (corrected, thanks Linda π€£). It will be exactly a year since I did my first in Belfast the year before.
This will be my fourth official one, I'm not sure if I have any expectations for it, but I have been pacing at around 6 minuets / km. However, I think that will be a bit too much on the day itself. The main thing is to enjoy the day and not endure it...
I'm doing this this weekend 10K around King's Lynn, with our very own Madge50 - if we manage to find each other in the crowds. I'm looking forward to it enormously.
Hello Linda, I hate to say it but Β Katnap and I were bored Sunday morning and booked another race π€£ Weβll be doing the Tempo Trail 10k on Sunday 5th May. A morning out in the countryside to enjoy the bluebells tempoevents.co.uk/events/te...
Well it seems we had nothing booked in Mayβ¦so we have signed up for the Runseries Run Gatwick 10k on 12th May!βοΈ Nice and flat and running under low flying plansβ¦will be interesting - plus my husband liked the look of the bling!π€·ββοΈπ€£π
Hi linda9389 could you add me to the list please? Iβm doing the Bognor Prom 10K on Sunday 12 May 2024. The website is bognorprom10k.org and the event is run (as the name suggests) mainly along the promenade at Bognor Regis, West Sussex
Hello Β Β linda9389 , given that Β Β UpTheStanley and I have signed up for the HU 10k event, we thought we might sign up for a real event so we are doing the Netley 10k on Sunday 19th May. Unfortunately the link isnβt copying over.
It is set in Royal Victoria Park and surrounding roads, and includes 3 laps of ups and downs. Not at all my usual run, but the biggest challenge is not being allowed headphones, even bone conduction ones. So no playlist for me!
We are doing the parkrun there next weekend for training purposes!
Hi Linda, donβt know if youβll see this before the Friday pom-poms post but I have decided not to run the Gatwick 10k this weekend. Back running after my virus but am not feeling a 10k run in the sunshine this weekend - will opt for perhaps a 7k or similar on my shady home trails!π
Iβve signed up for The Badminton Bolt (Iβm doing the 10K) this Saturday, the 18th. A bit of a last minute thing for me but itβs a local event and billed as βfunβ with children allowed so itβll be very low-key and relaxing, itβs to raise funds for a local school, but thereβs still bling at the end so Iβm in!
This is the only link there is. But itβll be around the grounds of the Badminton estate so there will be beautiful scenery at least π₯°
