Sorry that’s how it worked out for you Andy. I know you were keen to keep running and it must be really disappointing to be told it’s not advisable for you personally to carry on. Wishing you well with your operation, recovery and finding a way of staying active that’s enjoyable for you. Hopefully you’ll have a helpful physio who can point you in the right direction.

Good luck to you.

I am afraid I have no experience of knee replacements or the impact they have on running. I'm sorry if you have been told you won't be able to run, - I can only imagine how frustrating that must be, although it is good to hear that you are in line for the surgery you require. I hope it goes well and that you get a physio who is able to give you good advice on exactly what you will be able to do to regain your fitness. Wishing you all the very best.

They don’t recommend running as it might wear the joint out and your needing a second replacement. As told to my sister recently post hip op when she asked about running.

Your physio may well have other ideas so you can discuss it at your post op sessions

Try to stay positive 🙂👍. Good luck with your procedure. Keep us posted on how it goes 🙂

Coincidentally, this morning I met a guy running parkrun with an artificial hip. He said he's really scaled back his running to avoid wear and tear ... but he definitely ran today's parkrun

I hope to do a park run again but no half marathon that I wanted to try
