come back run #2 - solo running

I'd plan to do a run yesterday but my knee was twinging a bit too much, but today it felt fine most of the day, so I went out and did 1k in just under 10 minutes - very leisurely but just what I needed to start building up confidence in my running abilities again. My youngest came with me on his skateboard which got him out of the house, so it was fun for him too - hard to occupy them all day and I do want them to keep active as long as we're allowed. We had a bit of wii dance too today :D

I am liking the solo running with empty streets, it's nice not to have to worry too much about traffic - our pavements are, as you can see, small to non-existant and I normally have to be very vigilant - so finding positives in the crisis at least

That looks lovely, so peaceful. It’s spookily quiet around here too ...

It's like the morning on New Year's Day when the world has a hangover :D

Yes! You’re right, it does!

I’ve just read that France has clamped down on running and cycling, saying you shouldn’t run more than 1-2 km from home and that cycling has been banned altogether!

I haven't read that - I will look out for it - that would mean I could work out an 8K loop though, which should get me through a few weeks of comeback

I read it on thelocal.fr if that helps

thanks Sandie, I just read that - I also read that I have to print that damn form out for every outing :o I had just printed one for walking the dogs and wrote "every day" on it - but apparently I have to do 1 per day :( Not very environmentally friendly lol

still, I will do it right now and print one per day

Oh what a faff! Designed to discourage you from going out at all obviously 😖

That looks lovely. I bumped into way too many people here today. As I'm still working I don't have time to drive somewhere quieter, but for now I'm just happy I can get out to ride and to run, and will make the most of it (running into the road when necessary, cars or not!). Great news you've got another successful run under your belt.

I'm working from home, that is the main downhill road in the village (the clock tower is the town hall). It's a small village and everyone uses that road to go to the station or to the post office or town hall, but there was no one, so strange, like a ghost town

Looks lovely. Good news that the knee held up! 😊👍

yes, it is good news, thank you. I'm feeling positive. I will try a slow 1.5k in a couple of days all going well - obviously at 10 mins per km I'm not pushing it at all, more concentrating on the knee and how it's feeling.

Sounds sensible. 👏🏼 I am languishing with a sore arch on my right foot, so following your progress from my IC. Gives me hope! Good luck with it. 👍

good luck with that - have you seen anyone about it?

No. Usual therapist is closed. Wouldn’t bother a doc just now. Time & rest, then stretch. Fingers crossed all the time. 🤣

Oooo lovely place to run BIT. Glad you were able to run in company, even if it was with a skateboarder! 😅

Stay running and stay safe. ❤️

he enjoyed being able to skate in the roads which I don't normally let him do :D it's much easier than carrying his skateboard to a place where he can skate safely - he said he will come with me next time too :D

Beautiful photograph! That would make a great painting. May I copy it to make a sketch from?
