This week I’ve managed 23.47 miles. The week has been a bit odd for 2 reasons:
1) I joined the gym and did some dreadmill runs. Weirdly I have enjoyed them and liked avoiding the sub zero temperatures we’ve had. (Those who have been doing The Spine are superhuman 🦸🏽♂️!) Running on a treadmill has encouraged me to mix up my running with intervals in order to make the time pass more, which is something I don’t really do on the road. I feel I’m getting those fast twitch fibres reactivated!
2) my legs haven’t felt tired at all 🤔
I’ve still got the 100 miles for the month in the back of my mind. Hope you’re all well 😊

Well done Tasha. I’ve learned speed work is a bit of a precarious topic round here, but if you can, then do! You’ll get serious returns in strength, fitness, running form, and resistance to injury. (For others reading, I can see how it feels like a tightrope walk though).
But speed work on the treadmill is next level. It’s almost stunt running. You’re dicing with death every time you go near one of them buttons.
Go for the 100 miles. The side achievements work wonders for motivation! And it’s a decent monthly bag too.
Are you sure you’re not going to be Marathon fit in May…?
I’m running my first marathon in July so those miles gave me the confidence that I was ready to sign up. So happy your mojo has returned. You’re doing great 😍
Congratulations on completing 23.47 miles this week, mainly on the treadmill in the gym, it's better running there than what I have been running outside in very cold weather, so happy to know that your legs havn't felt tired at all, I am sure you will be able to complete that 100 miles before the end of January, good luck ✔️🤞
I had a super one in my bedroom and used it after work when I worked late, after Willow moved in I no longer used it and he fell over it a couple of times so we got rid of it, now I go on the one at the gym and as long as I have music I'm happy to spend a bit of time on one.
Since I am on a big fat zero miles, you have done exactly 23.47 miles MORE than me 🤣. When I was doing Couch to 5k we lived in Scotland and I joined a small village gym for the same reason as you. Ice and snow are dangerous to run on! I quite liked the treadmill but only did short runs.
Yes, brilliant work Tasha!! I did zero miles last week, because of the weather; I couldn’t bring myself to hit the treadmill. Looks like I will get out tomorrow; it will be muddy, but no snow or ice. Great to see you back on song.🙂
Well done Tasha! That's brilliant progress to your 100 miles! 🏃♀️💪I've had a better week this week, 2 short runs, 1 longer one today (8miles with my Sunday group) and 4 walks ,yesterday's a very windy hike up to Tennyson Monument(see piccy!) ! So lots of variety!
Another great week! Speed runs are fun - they definitely liven things up. But on a treadmill? I'm not sure anything livens a treadmill up in my book - but whatever it takes! Hopefully it's getting better outdoors for you this coming week.
Another great week for you. Well done! Pleased to hear the treadmill worked out. Your mileage is amazing! I'm have been plodding along doing just 2km each day . I got fed up with the short runs so treated myself to a VERY slow 10k on Saturday. Bruised ribs felt no better or worse afterwards so I have switched my HM plan back on - (I might skip the speed runs for another week or two until ribs feels better.)
So pleased to be doing RED January. Without it I would not yet have tried running again since I fell assuming that it would make aggravate the rib aches.
The running makes it so much easier to deal with work, life etc. Now all I need is to get my diet back in line and shift the significant Christmas gains!!!
I’d take the treadmill any day over cold and/or windy, or really hot too for that matter. And I agree, it’s fun to mix it up and do intervals on them too. The gym I belong to has lot to watch though. I can’t imagine staring at a blank wall! 🥱
