I have to say that the weather this week has seriously tested my resolve, but 7 days done, 24 to go. I only normally run 3 times a week, but, since losing Ben, my physical activity had taken a bit of a dip, so New Year resolution to kick off with RED. My first run on NYD was actually a walk, as I was feeling a little fragile and it was also very icy (3.59k), then (not) parkrun on Saturday (5.02k), 4K on Sunday, 2.02k on Monday, 5k interval run on Tuesday, 3.42k yesterday and my weekly long run of 8k this morning, again on ice π for a weekly total of 31.05k. Not a bad start! I do wish the ice would disappear, but equally, I have no desire to go back to wet and muddy. Picky, moi ππ Happy running peeps πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ

RED January week 1

Great running xx

Excellent effort Sandie. Molly's sad eyes (all put on!) do get us out of the house when we otherwise wouldn't; a mistress of emotional manipulation, but that is our canine friends for us; you will really be missing Ben.I have decided not to run on ice; just too big a risk for me given my previous calamity....Mrs BC is on my case too, so no chance!!
It looks as though things should start to warm up on Monday, and in the meantime I still have my exercises to do βΉοΈ. Maybe I should buy a dread mill!
It really isnβt the same going for a walk round the fields on my own. For one thing, not as many people speak to you. Funny that! I must admit, I waited later than usual in the hope that the sun would melt the ice and then hopped from sunny patch to sunny patch, taking to the grass verges when I couldnβt avoid the icy bits. I must have looked slightly deranged ππ
Nooo, not the dreadmill, anything but that, although I think some of them do have projected landscapes to run through if youβre feeling flush π

Well done Sandie! We picked a hard week weather wise to start RED didnβt we? Good for you getting out. Hopefully the rest of January wonβt be quite so brutal, but equally I donβt want it to thaw and return to squelchy mud thank you! Iβm picky too! π
Iβm picky too. Lovely photo. Well done you, very good start to the year.

Well done for getting out everyday Sandie. I must say Iβve never had the inclination to do that. My body still needs a day off in between runs.
I think I prefer cold and dry to wet and mild too, but I had to watch out for frozen puddles this morning even down here on the south coast.
Enjoy your RED January.....
Sandie1961 you've got this and yep I'll be there on every run with you ππ
