What a beautiful day and perfect running weather. Sorry no photos, didn’t think…
This is a fairly flat course, they call it ‘undulating’, with the conditions is it the run to break the hour 10k that’s eluded me forever? Not sure as I’ve done a couple of hard runs in the last couple of days - one a practice for a run I’ve got coming up in a couple of weeks around the local fell (on tarmac) which has 250m of elevation gain in the first 6k (11ish total distance), then a running friend wanted to do a sub 30 5k on Friday - that seemed hard, we did it in 29’16”
Anyways not thoroughly rested - it’s time for this run. Decided to run with a 60 minute pacer for most of the race, surprised myself, it felt easier than most 10’s I’ve run - ahh, so this is the way of not going too fast at the beginning then burning out!
left the pacer at 9.5km to shave a few more seconds off what was undoubtedly going to be a PB.
Strava gave me the 10k at 58’59” (previous PB was 61’09”) so to say I’m chuffed is an understatement. Not got chip time yet. Watch clocked run time at 59’39” over 10.11km.
woo-hoo but I think this one will hang around quite a while before I beat it again.
Edit: chip time was 59’25”
