I’ve really gotten into organised runs this year…
This was yesterday (27 Dec) morning and I has to shoe horn the run in before 2x family gatherings, one at lunchtime and the other for the evening meal.
fortunately the forecast heavy rain held off for the most part leaving a cool and slightly damp morning.
1800 people where registered (so I was told) however only about 1200 ran.
As I’m not the quickest, and new to these types of runs I cleared off towards the back of the line up so as not to be in the way of quicker runners.
Anyway, the race got underway and was mostly uneventful for me, I’d been using a Garmin Coach training plan to bring my 10k time up to 62 minutes. I still have a week and a half of that to go, but was more than happy to complete the run in 1’01’38 (chip time) a 2’48” improvement on my PB.
My first 2 km where the slowest, and I really think I could have gotten near the hour marker if I wasn’t at the back of the pack. More practice needed - a sub 1 hour will be attempted in 2023
Splits for those interested.
