My first official 10k race (following the Bournemouth Quarter Marathon at Easter) the course around Green Park in Reading is known to be a fast course and fairly flat other than the two inclines to cris Cross the M4. With pace runners available at 5 min intervals I was in 2 minds whether to go with the 65 min or 60 min (given my previous best PR of 63:17. Decided to go with the 60 min pacer.
Tracked the pacer for the first 7k, but felt OK so pushed on past him and even managed a bit of a spurt at the end, finishing with a chip time of 58:09, knocking over 5 mins off my previous best.
A great experience and atmosphere and great to see my running buddy HoagyM at the finish.
Next Sunday is my first Runniversary of graduating C25K, never in a million years did I think I could do this. Thanks to everyone on here for their encouragement and support, it wouldn't have been possible without you.

Congratulations Berksrover on achieving a sub 60 minutes 10K at the Royal Berks 10k today. Nice that you decided to follow the 60 minutes pacer which enabled you to pass him on the last 3k's to achieve that PB for the run.🏃 😊
Well done Berksrover, it was a great day and great to meet up again. I tracked the 65 minute pacer and (despite falling back towards the end) finished just 30 seconds behind him, which was my best ever race time... but you smashed through that 1 hour barrier like it wasn't there! Massive congrats.
