And thatβs what we wish our amazing VRBs as they take to the track and roads this weekend!
On Saturday 2 September our GB team superstar β¨ Β Β RunBrianRun β¨ will be getting things underway at astonishing speed in the British Masters Track & Field championships 100m: bmaf.opentrack.run/en-gb/x/...
Then on Sunday 3 September we have a host of races right across Great Britain. First up, in Scotland, itβs the one and only β¨ Β Β AlMorr β¨ whoβs off to the Cumbernauld 10k: activenl.co.uk/cumbernauld-10k The event is part of a family community running festival based at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld. Unbelievably, although Al's run more than forty 10K distances already, this is his first real, live, chip-timed race!
Next, over in Wales, β¨ Β Β OldManRunning β¨ is heading to the Welsh capital for the Cardiff 10k: cardiff10k.cymru/ The race is described as a sightseeing tour of the city and takes in central Cardiff, leafy suburbs and grade 2 listed parkland, before a grandstand finish at the Edwardian Civic Centre.
Our final call is to the heart of England, to Shakespeareβs home town, where β¨Β Β Shake-and-run β¨ will be running the Stratford Big 10k, while β¨Katnap β¨ Β TailChaser β¨ and β¨Β Β Time_Lord β¨ take part in the HM version, the Stratford Big Half. Apparently both races offer a bit of everything β there's a bold promise for you! Find out more at tempoevents.co.uk/events/st...
Our thoughts are with you, Holdin' hands in the air to cheer you, VRBs, so enjoy your races, and donβt forget to send us your race reports!
Any more VRBs taking part in a racing event this weekend and want a pompom cheer? Then please reply asap to this post to let us know, and weβll add you to the list!
Seeing that pic made me wanna run like βell π
Which reminds me, I received a belated clip of my last 5k race with my niece in Lincs. The person making the clip was making a vroooooooooooom noise at me on the last straight before the tight bend to the ribbon I didnβt hear it at the time what with my laser focus π
Thanks lexi6 , the 10K I am running on Sunday starts and ends in a football stadium, the first kilometer is ran along a reasonably quiet road with a pavement which I often run, K2 to K7 will be on closed roads past the famous Barrs Irn Bru factory, perhaps you have heard of the soft drink Irn Bru, from kilometers 7 to 9 the route is on the same off road paths that I run all my 5 and 10K runs which is around Broadwood Loch, the last kilometer is where the first kilometer was but the opposite direction ending in that football stadium.
I've just googled the route you'll take Al and Broadwood Loch looks lovely, think starting and finishing in the stadium is a great idea. I hope you enjoy the race.
π ππΎ... but first of all this Saturday morning I am the tailwalker at Springburn parkrun, the weather on both days is to be dry, no rain thank goodness, the temperature on Saturday at around 9.30am is to be about 12c and for the start of the 10K on Sunday is forecast to be 17C at 11am
Good on you for volunteering Al, I hope there are no speedsters at the back and you are able to take a leisurely stroll round and conserve your energy for the race. The Sunday temperature sounds ideal for running too. All the best π
Have fun you lot! Get out there, give it large, have lots of fun, may the sun shine (but not toooo much), may the cake, bling and goody bags be the best ever.
whoop whoop everybody. Donβt worry about the butterflies π¦ π¦ AlMorr , youβll be fine once you cross that start line. I heard a lot of people talking about the Cardiff half /10k when we were on the Severn Bridge last week and itβs going to be greeeat OldManRunning . Have fun. And then the Duracell bunnies Katnap and TailChaser are off on an HM again , with Time_Lord - enjoy!. Good luck also to the more sensible (in my opinion π) Shake-and-run in the 10k.
I had a momentary panic when I saw Cardiff Dexy. Luckily the HM isnβt on the same day as the 10k or Iβd have been in trouble. I have another month luckily. π
Sorry to scare you cheeky. We did parkrun in Cardiff and it is a lovely city to run round, Iβm sure. Iβm hoping to get a longer slow run in on Monday to get towards that 10 Miles again, as Iβll be in another race next week. Itβs all go.
Mine are appearing in fits and starts Dexy5 , though my laptop's been updating too, so that won't have helped. (Basically every time it's my turn to post pompoms or chat it throws a wobbler! )
Iβm dying here stuck on the motorway trying to get to Derby over61andstilltrying . Itβs traffic hell. Iβm not even at Milton Keynes and Iβve been driving 5 hours now π
Any idea what is causing the problem with so much traffic RunBrianRun?, listen to the local radio station, they might know what's causing the problem, perhaps an accident somewhere else on the motorway..
So glad that you have arrived at your hotel, have a good sleep and all the very best for your runs on Saturday, my 10K is Sunday, however, tomorrow I will be the tailwalker at Springburn parkrun, I am hoping that I don't need to run too much to same my energy for Sunday.
Thanks O61, it all finally cleared up thankfully. I guessed it was something to do with typical English tea time and everyone wanting to go home for their chips and egg π
Pom poms are a-flapping!!!!Good luck RunBrianRun run .Wishing you super speedy uneventful runs!
Enjoy your first non virtual 10k AlMorr . I am feeling quite envious. I found last weekend such fun and hoping that your experience will be as good!! π for luck ( not that you'll need it!)
Best of luck at Cardiff OldManRunning it sounds like a really interesting course.
I'm hope that you will all have a good run and hopefully catch up a Stratford-upon-Avon Shake-and-run Time_Lord Katnap and TailChaser !
Awesome stuff yet again Cmoi you make me smile π All the best to everyone this weekend and as I always say, 'Congratulations on getting yourself to the start line.' I look forward to hearing all about your races π π

Good old Friday traffic back to its normal routine π€π€π€ AlMorr all the best to you in your first live biggie race! I hope you love it! Nothing like running with lots of people - looking forward to your report πππ Cardiff sounds fab OldManRunning I hope you have a great run! πͺπͺπͺ.
