Roll up, roll up! As we send July on its way weβre in need of lots of fluffy (or perhaps spiky!) pompoms for the fabulous Hedgehogs123 πββοΈ whoβll be running the Heckington 10 mile road race - heckingtonshow.org.uk/10-mi... - on Saturday 29th July.
First held in 1965, the event claims to be the oldest race in the Midlands and is part of the annual Heckington Show. πͺ Hopefully the 9.00am start will not only ensure favourable running conditions, but also leave lots of time for exploring all the rest of the showβs agricultural, horticultural, heritage and cultural activities.
Have a great race Hedgehogs, and do let us know how you get on!
If any more VRBs are taking part in a racing event this weekend and would like a pompom cheer, let us know asap by replying to this post, and weβll add you to the list!
Letβs go Hedgehogs123 Enjoy that race and tell us all how it goes wonβt you? Spiky (but friendly) West Country pom-poms are being shaken right now, and wonβt stop until you cross that finish line! π₯³
Oh wow, put cat biscuits down and he,,/she should keep visiting π¦π¦. They're gorgeous creatures. We've just released 3little ones that I was caring for helping to get them upto weight to go free. Fingers crossed they'll all be fine!!
We did have rats recently too so putting down food isnβt an option. I did leave out a dish of water.
I hope he/she is well hidden. When I went back later in the day to check he/she had moved! Iβl leaving that bit of the garden alone and hopefully the foxes will stay away π€
arrh yes, that can be a problem, as rats are opportunists so will nick anything and of course they will come back if they find food. We had the same problem unfortunately for the wild hedgehogs, but the ones I have on behalf of Hedgehog Welfare, they are in in hutches until they're well enough or big enough to be released.
Love the very appropriate pom poms Cmoi! I hope they donβt get seasick being shaken about! Have a wonderful run HH, youβre a racing wonder!! ππππ₯³
I hope you enjoy the runΒ Hedgehogs123 π It looks like it will be a lot of fun plus you get a chance to wander around the show afterwards if your legs are still up for it π
it was a great race, very hot though. Unfortunately I couldn't wander round as I was then working on one of the stalls, so on my feet all day. Pretty tired now though!!
haha, no worries, good race, very hot weather and then I worked for the rest of the day on one of the stalls. I volunteer for our local bat group and our local hedgehog group. So Im pretty shattered now!!
