Caught at last…😕🏃‍♀️

So, having worked throughout nearly the whole pandemic in a primary school (no masks etc) I have at last succumbed. I was aware of having a bit of a cough earlier in the week and thought it was due to running in the cold last weekend. I’ve felt tired too (not unusual!) but ran yesterday after work. I only tested this morning as I spent yesterday evening feeling really cold and bunged up - just to reassure myself - only to see that little positive line that I have avoided for so long.😕

So, it’s been a quiet day for me and hoping that this passes soon.

I know there was a link for return to running post-covid, if anyone can direct me that would be fab.

Looks like I may be missing the London Winter run AGAIN!😩

Oh gosh.... I empathise...we were thinking we would never get it... and the week before Christmas!! Been nowhere except out doors in Wales...

But... this virus is a devious vindictive foe.

Poor you!

I wrote this and we pinned it...the replies are worth reading... and I will look for one that Tim wrote too... meantime... rest... and please do take it steady... fingers crossed it will pass quickly... I was a week....and not too much to take in the week until I tested negative. The post viral left over was different; BUT that was me and we are all different !

healthunlocked.com/bridgeto......

Take care and listen to your body... yes I am as Tim would say, a nannying old fogey :) I'll get back to you asap !

Floss x

Update:

Tim's link was the same as mine... the NHS one included in my post... it is a really good useful guide...

Oh no Sandraj39 that’s rotten luck to miss out on London Winter Run! 🏃‍♀️😢 Hope you feel better soon 🙂🤞

Oh no  Sandraj39 , it seems to have caught up with so many of us who thought we’d got away with it. I hope you get through it without much discomfort.

I see  Oldfloss has come up with the link, which gives an insight into how different the effects are for each individual.

So sorry that you will miss the Winter Run again and hope you can defer your place.

Oh no! You have my sympathy. My own experience? I didn't realise I had it until I tested just before Christmas. With hindsight I had probably already been symptomatic a week (and so had made no efforts to take anything easy). I tested positive for about another three days. I went straight back to running once clear, but more slowly, with no obvious ill effects. I'm generally well and unaware of any after effects. I do however feel very tired in the afternoon of each run day - imagination? maybe. Real? maybe!

Such a shame about the Winter run if you do have to miss it. Take care, feel better very soon and hopefully you will have no after effects to deal with 😘

Thanks Linda - so glad you got off so lightly! I think I was probably on about day 3 when I tested yesterday. At the moment I just feel like I have a cold - the worse thing is keeping out of the way of the rest of the family! My eldest son is in the middle of his first set of solicitor exams at the moment, so I want to keep him virus free!

I hope I am able to return to running like you - we shall see!🤞🙂

Oh gosh yes, that isolation stress is horrible! Sending good wishes to you all.

I was lucky. Whilst I tested positive for 10 days, the symptoms disappeared after 3 days and my comeback to running didn’t seem to be affected at all. I did have a foot injury which limited pace and distance, but the virus seemed to disappear quickly. Hope you recover quickly. 🤞

Thank you - the positive recovery stories are just what I needed to hear, although I guess it will be what it will be!

Ahh no Sandra, what a shame about testing positive and also missing the race. Covid and these other lurgies need to cut us some slack. 😡

Speaking from experience coming back from covid and coming back from another non covid lurgy, I had no issues at all after the former, but it took me literally weeks to get my energy back after the latter. So much so that I now have a new normal, which is slower than I used to be. So odd, but I’ve come to accept it.

Everyone’s different, so hopefully you’ll spring back with no problem 🤞

Hope you feel better soon. It smashed me but others seem to bounce back very quickly. Hope you’re the latter x

Oh no! It does seem to have got so many first timers in the last few weeks. Hope you get rid of it quickly. Just take it steady and listen to your body when you do go for your next few runs xx

What horrible timing Sandra. Those running gods have a lot to answer for sometimes.

Hope you don’t feel too bad and get better soon.

I’ll leave you on the Winter Run s/sheet in the meantime…. you never know 🤞

Oh no Sandra, sorry to hear that😪I hope you get through it quickly and feel OK, and you are fully recovered soon. Such a shame for your LWR too 😪sending hugs xxx

think all of us 'late adopters' have been very fortunate, compared with the poor folks who were struck down before vaccines and some herd immunity. I know some people (like Oldfloss and others on here) have been pole axed but others not. I was ill for 48 hours and then took 2 weeks off from running. I set off slowly but was fine and have been since.

Hopefully your contact with all those little snotty blighters will give you the immunity of an ox!! (NB no idea if ox have good immunity, but you get the picture😀😀)

oh dear, sorry to hear this. Hope you feel better soon - definitely time to put your feet up and rest.

Good luck, see how you feel. I was back to normal schedule 4 days but I did rest completely during the 3 days prior, no TV, just bed rest to give my body maximum chance to heal. I avoided ibuprofen as that can make things worse. In fact I think I only took 1 or 2 aspirin and let sleep do the rest with lots of hydration. 👍🏻
