Iβve been a bit down on my running the last couple of weeks, not sure why. I think my last post was about 2 weeks ago, and in that time Iβve done a 10k, a few short runs and a 6k give or take. But any old hoo, Iβd drafted a HM plan of sorts, and today was 10 miles. I was nervous setting out because I wasnβt really in the mood for it, and not sure if Iβd even manage it. My only plan was to go really slowly. And it worked! Itβs the slowest Iβve ever run but boy did I feel the difference! The result is I feel so much better in myself, and I was much less tired at the same distance as last time.
The weather was ideal - overcast, light drizzle, and coolish compared to recent temps. And I just got my new running cap delivered which is brilliant. They are so useful, not least because they keep my glasses dry and in place, rather than bobbling about all over the place. Slidey glasses are very annoying!
Have a smashing day everyone! πππ

Well done on your 10 miler! A fab distance (and one I havenβt run for a while! π) Youβre right though - slowing down really is the way to run further! π
Well done on your 10 miles ππ»ππ»ππ» Itβs what I aspire to. Iβm definitely in the go slow brigade π’ π Iβve been running with a friend who was struggling to reach 5k. I slowed her down to my pace and she reached it with ease and has just achieved 10k. We also have the puff to chat all the way π. Slow rocks! π’πππ
That's a cracking run, especially if you weren't really feeling up to it. It's surprising how often a run exceeds our expectations (often the times we most need a run, but just don't quite realise it π)
Thank you so much, yes, you are absolutely right! About half way I thought actually this is going SO much better than expected - it was lovely. I feel nice and calm (and lazy) now π. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Thanking you! I was thinking how Iβm still learning, really, in the grand scheme of things. It made such a big difference to how I felt towards the end, and I didnβt feel as though I had to crawl home on hands and knees once Iβd finished π.
Ha ha yes, and thank you! I still have to pinch myself, itβs pretty special, isnβt it πππ. I think as soon as I said I was training for a HM, I mentally froze and it showed in my runs if that makes sense. All the best sparky! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
I think I might aim for another in the morning.. my sister is visiting for a couple of days so I might not get out for a long one again this week..see how I feel in the morning π
