I share the good runs so it’s only fair to share the ones that don’t go as planned!
I missed my long run last weekend due to a niggle (which thankfully has resolved). Last long run was a 15k two weeks ago, so my (lack of) plan today was a somewhat confused 12-15k - maybe 16k if all goes well…(it didn’t !🤣) Just to point out, I am usually quite clear on my plan for a run - my indecision was born out of not being where I wanted to be on my HM plan…lesson learned.
To be fair, all was going fairly well until about 12.5/13k. I had gone slowly and steadily and all felt good. But then it all started to feel really tough and my poorly thought out plan meant I couldn’t decide whether to stop or push on…you know the thought process! Anyway, I called it a day at a little over 14k, which I know is absolutely fine and the right call given how I was feeling (tired - two bad nights probably didn’t help - and dead legs. )
On return home, I felt disappointed with myself, that I hadn’t pushed on to 15/16k and questioning my progress.😕 Also annoyed that the back of my left knee felt uncomfortable 🤷♀️ A few hours (and a much needed nap) later, I know I just have to put this down to being ‘one of those runs’.
Just wanted to share - I know progress isn’t linear and this HM training can feel tough at times.
Anyone else relate?
ps the knee feels a lot better now.👍🙂
