Hard to believe I'm actually posting this but this morning I did my very first half marathon. Unbelievable 21 months since graduation. I now can't imagine my life without running regularly being a part of it. I hadn't planned to do it today. I did my second 10 miles last Saturday and thought I'd consolidate a little but the temperature was just perfect as I can't run in heat! So I just kept going. Luckily I had two chocolate biscuits with me tho no fluid...it did rain a little and I made very sure of my conversational pace!after 2.5 hours my phone battery died, it was fully charged to start with. How do you manage to get a phone to stay charged for the whole run? It was a beautiful early morning cool and bright. I met very few people till towards the end, and I really enjoyed exploring different paths over the heath and woods. I probably wouldn't have ever thought about doing it if it hadn't been for reading different stories and experience on here. Thank you all.
Hm done!: Hard to believe I'm actually... - Fun Beyond 10K & ...
Hm done!
@Mormor1- congratulations. Really well done and a great motivation for me to keep going. I too really miss when I canβt go running for whatever reason. Have a great Sunday and recharge. π
Very well done. Half marathon ππ . I would be worried about my watch running out of battery. Be blooming awful and no time. . Congratulations π
Congratulations, awesome achievement π π
Oh my word! How exciting! Congratulations on your half marathon thatβs wonderful
Wow! πππππππ Congratulations. Thatβs amazing. I bet youβre buzzing, even if the phoneβs not!
Brilliant π€© Lovely to read your write up! Congratulations π
Welcome to club HM. May it be te first of many
Awe Mormor1 ππββοΈπI'm so pleased for you!
Huge congratulations π
You must be thrilled π
Love your shiny new badge β£οΈ
So well deserved πββοΈππββοΈππββοΈ
Brilliant πβπ₯
I definitely love those magical words ' half marathon ' after my name. Can't get my head round that I did it yet! π€£
Thatβs incredible Mormor, really well done! πππππππ Itβs a long, but doable, way I find. I hope you get to do more (maybe even enter a race? π)
As for watch batteries, well my Vivoactive 3 has shocking battery life, but it gets me through HMs ok, including playing music etc. (and Iβm not fast). Is yours an older model watch? Maybe the battery is on its way out? π€·ββοΈ
No problem with my watch battery, vivoactive 4 tho I don't have music on it. For that and podcasts, I rely on my phone, and it's that battery which only holds a charge for 2.5 hrs. Love your sense of humour but I will not be racing! I'm a plodder me.
Yeah Mormor1 ! How fantastic is that π. It sounds like such a nice run too. Super well done on your first HM, and I hope you have many more. Sorry your phone ran out of juice though, that tech can be very naughty π€£. Hurrah! βοΈβοΈβοΈ
It came out of the blue Frenc, but I k ew that was the way it would happen... I didn't want to plan it, too much pressure then.
Yay ! Well done ππFantastic run for you πππ
Well done you! Enjoy after glow! I wonder how long the glow will last. Fantastic achievement! πββοΈπππ Half Marathon! Whoopee!
Well done Mormor1 ππππππππ₯. I am sure that you wonβt stop at one HM! You seem to have enjoyed it. My first HM just happened; I was out on a long run, felt ok and just kept going. When the mood takes you β¦β¦you will be typing another HM report. Great effort. π
Congratulations π. Great work ππͺβπ
My phone battery is puny so my husband got me a power pack. The phone slides into it π
Mine looks like this one
Congratulations Mormor1 . What an achievement!
Congratulations to you Mormor1 on running your first Half Marathon, sorry about your phone but unfortunately those things sometimes happen, it happened to me last year on my first London Virtual 10,000, it meant that I had to run it two times, well done again, now celebrate your wonderful achievement.
Congratulations. Great achievement. Can you explain in more detail what increments you used from finishing the C25K to the half marathon? I finished the C25K a few weeks ago and am struggling to achieve 5K continuous running (can do 4,5km without too much problem) but even 10K is far beyond me. I aim to do increments of 10% if and when I think it is appropriate.
I did the 10% increments to get to 10k and then to 10miles last summer. I thought I'd peaked then and just did 5KS 3 times a week all winter. After that I did jujus magic plan to get up to 10k again in April this year. That grew to 10miles by adding 1k onto my long run each week. That was last Saturday when I did 10miles. I'd read somewhere that you don't have to build up to a hm incrementally but you should consolidate the 10miles. Needless to say I didn't get round time that but just went for it yesterday.. I will do those consolidation runs now!
Hi Comte , if you're interested in getting to 10K or in extending your running time to 60 minutes, then why not look at the Magic Plan (or more accurately plans) over on the Bridge forum? healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...
Also, remember that you don't have to do 5k every time you go for a run. There's absolutely nothing wrong with doing less! Try varying distance and effort over runs as well.
That is absolutely fantastic, well done!πββοΈπ
Congrats on your first HM Mormor1, that's some achievement! Your phone battery will only get worse I'm afraid as it is not holding its charge anymore. You can either take it to a repair shop to get the battery replaced or replace the it. Unfortunately a lot of batteries from the repair shops would most probably be cheap ones from China and may not last as long as the original.
Congratulations on your first HM Mormor1 ! I particularly like the "So I just kept going" bit - that's how I got to metric marathon, so much less stressful than training!
Fabulous, well done ππ» ππ»π
Sadly I think a phone upgrade might be due, sounds like the battery has had its day!
I missed this !!! HUGE well done you! You did really, really well and unexpected too! What a result! Here is to your next one!
Thanks Of, it is amazing how much of the 'can I, can't I?' is a head issue for me, not a physical one. Last year I told myself ' no way any further than 10miles'.... Here we are a year later and I'm thinking... ' I can do it!' and I can even visualize doing it again! Thank you for your enthusiastic response ππΎπ
