Ground contact time - Garmin hrm

Ok, my fault I bought a new toy 😂.

Decided to invest in a HRM-run as I wasn’t happy with the optical heart rate (suspected cadence lock). Anyway, it’s giving me a bunch of new stats for me to look at.

It looks like my left foot is slower than my right on the ground contact time balance graph, perhaps related to a decades old injury - got hit by a car which mullered the front of my shin and the muscle that runs down the front of it.

Only done an easy 10k with it this morning as it only arrived yesterday. I’ll have to see what picture builds over a week or so, but guessing I’ve got a bit of work on that leg to build the strength in it.

Interesting! Other things can affect this, such as road camber, and your speed, so as you say you'll need to do a few more runs to build up a more comprehensive picture xxx

Which HRM did you get, and which watch have you paired it with?

As to left/right balance, that can depend on the cant or camber of the surface you're running on. About 1km of my canal towpath route has an uneven slope dropping towards the right, and that can cause me to have trouble in my left leg. I have to keep remembering to run in different areas of that path to balance things out.

It’s a forerunner 945 and a HRM-run

The route I used was an out and back, so should have evened out any camber over the return leg.

Just amazed I’m not running round in circles 😂
