Mr Sandie offered to buy me a Garmin for my birthday (which was at the end of July 🤦♀️) and yesterday a Forerunner 645 Music appeared 😊😊😊

Went out for a 8k run to try it out this morning and it was recording in miles, so had to find out how to change it to kms when I got back. A whole new world of stats is opening up 😬
Now, anybody know how I can install Nike Run Club guided runs onto it? So far, I’ve drawn a blank 🤷♀️
Thank you for any useful tips and happy running 🏃♀️ 🏃🏻♂️

I don't think it'll play nicely with NRC. The audio capabilities of the watch are probably limited to playing music, with no extra smarts involved. (Garmin's own guided runs might have more capabilities on the watch.)
I bought mine for the music as dropped my phone new year’s day 2020 and love it, but also love guided runs and zombies run so bought leggings with a phone pocket, could have saved a fortune lol
I have now cancelled the Parliamentary Petition; we were a few short of the 100,000 signatures needed to have the delayed delivery of your birthday present debated on the floor of the House, but it’s the thought that counts? Here’s to many happy k’s of running 🥂. A PB is needed to get the watch off to a good start. 🙂
😂 thank you! I got an upgrade though, because it was 50% off on Wiggle so he decided to go for the more expensive model (Yorkshire heritage showing🤣) PBs are in short supply currently and almost all my run was in zone 5 apparently, which I’m sure can’t be good, although it didn’t feel particularly hard 🤷♀️
if you want PBs, yes. However I'm not long back from a 6k run where I dumped most of the technology and just went up the hill to take in the views, and capture some of them on my mobile. I loved it, and right now I need that more than shaving a few seconds off my times 😀
If I lived in such lovely surroundings as you I’d do the same. I have loved my runs around Eymet with the running group, both for the scenery and the companionship with no thought about times. Here, though, it’s flat, boring fields! I’m not pushing it though.
Snazzy watch Sandie! You won’t know how you managed without it. 😀 I’m pretty sure you can’t upload NRC runs to it though. That said, I always take my phone in case of emergencies anyway so have never tried.
As for your HR - they’re temperamental beasts. As you no doubt know, mine is that of a sleeping sloth at all times, so when my Garmin tells me it’s not, it’s because it’s raining/sweaty, too loose, not positioned on my wrist correctly (any other random reason it chooses on the day). It needs to be pretty tight, and worn above the wrist bone. Have fun toying with that!
You’ll have a hoot playing with it though! I’m on the hunt for a new one as my Vivoactive 3 is in diva mode and driving me bats at the moment. Black Friday can’t come soon enough!
It won’t sync with NRC unfortunately, but you can write your own programs for it so it it tells you what you’re supposed to be doing at which part of the run (if that makes sense). Don’t know if it announces the segments though, but it does beep and vibrate at you. I don’t use headphones - and have the more basic 245 (non-music version)
You’ll love (and hates the stats) - that run was unproductive, your VO2max has increased (erm ok Garmin 😂)
Oh blimey, don’t think I could cope with writing my own 😬 I did get pace and heart zone announcements every few minutes and it vibrated each mile though!
I think the only way you could get NRC runs on your watch would be to make an audio recording of your phone playing one of the time based (not the distance-based) runs and loading that as a music file. Which is probably only worth the hassle if there's one you want to do regularly.
It's funny, when I started my forerunner 45 was all the watch I needed but now I keep hearing about all the other features (Maps on my watch! Help with race pacing! Workout suggestions! Solar charging!) and am hankering after a snazzier model. But looks like my forerunner has lots of life left in it and it would be crazy to discard a perfectly good watch...
Definitely. No more fiddling to get phone out of pocket and unlock it! I really got mine because of cycling because its even worse with a phone on a bike, you have to stop! OK a phone mount for my bike might have been cheaper ....
I think I’ll just have to take my phone when I want to do a NRC run. This is my first watch, so I’ll probably try to do everything at first until I decide what I really need. There is so much to it and the instruction book is rubbish. Thank goodness for Google 😅
Ooh nice! Enjoy! You won't be able to get NRC on there though. That will need you to carry your phone. You still need to get it put away after pressing start, then out again for pausing for stretches if that option is in the run you chose, then back in your pocket after restarting .... But I wouldn't want to run without my phone anyway I don't think. My watch is a little too keen to notify my emergency contacts that I have had an accident on my bike (any sharp braking triggers that) but I'm not so sure it would know if I'd been attacked by some malevolent person in the woods 🙈 ... but then whether I'd be able to get my phone out under those circumstances is doubtful ... OK, enough going down that rabbit hole!!!!! Enjoy all the great things your new Garmin CAN do!
I’m late to the (birthday) party and can’t help with the tech 😆but I’m loving the colour! Does it match your shoes for that total look?! Well done Mr Sandie!
