After months, almost years, of wanting to upgrade my cheap Chinese fit watch, I've finally got me a nice new Forerunner 45, thanks to Amazon and their Black Friday Bargains.
It arrived this morning and I had to get out and run with it tonight - a fairly fast 5k.
Was brilliant to be able to glance at the watch and see how I'm doing, mainly paying attention to the min/mile Pace display.
I know it's Garmin's entry level watch, and I'm sure I'll soon be wishing I got the next model up, but there is still plenty of data to sift through, and navigating around the app and watch is going to take some getting used to.
But tonight's run certainly felt like it benefitted from that FR45. Running on my own is always alot slower and harder than when I'm with a group or taking part in an event, but knowing how far I had left and how fast I was going, helped me push it a little harder.
I think I've just found my latest competitor.... Myself from my previous run! π€£

I have this watch and I love it. Maybe in future years I'll look at the 245 but I really love this and there are so many great things you can do. It's more than enough for me right up to Marathon distance and the screen is brilliant in bright light and dark. Brilliant watch.
ππππππππββοΈπΆπͺπ₯. Itβs fab! Dunno βbout entry level π. Entry level is F10 and F15, both of which are great! You only need watches with more battery power when you start marathon running. Iβve run 4 marathons using the aforementioned watches. I wear the F15 til it starts warning me of low battery then switch to the F10 (on my other wrist ) to record the rest. Not ideal I know but Iβm not Mrs Moneybags Hopefully Santa is going to reward me this year for being good with a Garmin Forerunner 35 π. I chose that one as being the cheapest of the longer lasting battery options but without all the other bells and whistles
Youβll get years worth of fun out if your new toy It will really be a boon to your running for sure πππββοΈ Enjoy
I donβt think anyone needs a high spec than this unless youβre an ultra runner and need detailed maps and 70 hours gps battery life. Iβd get it off I needed a new watch. Welcome to club garmin π
You're right. It has all the information most people need, and enough battery to last most events.
The lack of elevation is a little frustrating mind. That is one piece of information I really wish i could see.
If I had a little extra cash I would like the larger screen of the 245 to have 4 data fields on each screen. But is that worth Β£100? Probably not.
I would also like a watch that plays music so I don't have to carry my phone on a run, but reading reviews this still seems to need a little extra development.
