Garmin Forerunner 45?

Calamity, yesterday I managed to destroy my Forerunner 235, it got in the way of various metal parts as I attempted to retrofit a PTO shaft on a mower deck as you do. So given every cloud has a silver lining I went for the new 245 but hated the price tag and after some research, thought that were maybe just too many bells and whistles on this watch for my needs. So I have gone with the 45. Wiggle had the best price even with postage to France. Do you have one how do you find it, DC Rainmaker's review seemed to make it just right for a daily jogger, keep fit profile. TaKe CaRe OUt ThErE.

Not used one, but have heard people on here commenting positively. Have you tried the comments search on here or the other run forums?

Hey, Linda thanks for the tip. Most of the forums have a degree of Garmin waffle :-) I guess in the end you pays your money and take your pick. This review swings it for me dcrainmaker.com/2019/04/gar... , a bit annoyed with myself, to be honest in wearing the watch when doing what I was doing. Loved my 235 parting is such sweet sorrow.

I keep thinking of upgrading my 235 ... but can't bring myself to take the risk of not liking a new one! Couldn't you get a cheap 235 now they're an old model?

in reply to linda9389

Well, I could have but 45 has a few bits and pieces that the 235 did not have and came in less expensive. Just need to get over this lockdown and hopefully get out and see what it does.

Hi windyrider, I have the 235, but I know several people on here have the 35, the predecessor of the 45, and swear by them. 👍

Hey, Cheeky yep the 235 is a great watch, will miss mine. We shall see how the 45 compares.

I would definitely consider getting a screen protector for whichever watch you go for. I never wore my 235 for work, as it was too fragile. I now have a Fenix 6X and never take it off - bulletproof (I do hope this isn’t a kiss of death!)

Yes a screen protector will be fitted, now if only I had done that to my 235 :-) Talk about horses and stable doors!!

I have the 30 - really pared down but does everything I need when running, walking, doing Pilates etc

Good luck with your new watch

Good to hear, I really liked the watch to phone heart rate warnings of the 235, its been a real game changer in my recovery. Use the feature for all my activities, headphones on music on and garmin telling me to go SLOW.

I’ve got the 235, which can be flaky on gps & heart rate. The 45 is the go to in my club, but they recommend scouting eBay for nearly new/ second hand for lots less than rrp.

in reply to MadDave

Thanks for that MadDave, never put too much trust in the watch only HR metrics and used a chest monitor link for more reliable data. Will be interesting to see how the 45 compares to the 235.
