Anyone had any problems with the battery indicator when charging your watch?
i bought myself a new Garmin , 3 weeks ago on Amazon. , only a forerunner45s but I love it,does what I need it to do. until this morning. Battery Level was saying 40% , plugged in the cable, nothing happened apart from it suddenly dropped to 20% and started bleeping at me. Couldn't get the cable to do anything. Unplugged, cleaned the terminals and tried again. Suddenly started charging and jumped back to 40 again. 5 minutes later it's upto 100% but bleeping again saying low battery!
Left it for another few minutes and it seemed to be ok. I've been in touch with the company on Amazon who say they may look to replace it, but then this evening I get a copy of a transcript from Garmin with a conversation that I haven't had with them, clearly the company I bought from have, pretending to be me.
watch seems to be working ok now,but what you do?

Never had any problems but if you’ve checked it and cleaned the contacts, i’d definitely demand a replacement under the guarantee because you must be within the 30 day return policy too, if you’re having problems this early somethings not right
Thank you, yes that's what I thought, but it seems to be ok now, so I wondered if it was just a blip. I was also rather bemused that the company I bought it from in Amazon have been onto Garmin Support pretending to be me! So my question to them is who is replacing it, is it them or is it Garmin?!
I guess Garmin will replace it to them and they to you but very underhand, I might be tempted to send an email to Amazon, good luck, they should last years
Not "underhand" SueAppleRun , if the retailer is a third-party seller on Amazon then it's their legal responsibility to contact the manufacturer to sort out the issue. So they're only doing what they're supposed to, though I agree that it doesn't appear to have been made clear to Hedgehogs123 that was what they were doing.
See my reply to WillowandSola Hedgehogs123 . Are you sure that the retailer was "pretending to be [you]" (that's a pretty serious accusation...) or were they just doing their job without making it clear to you that they were contacting Garmin Support on your behalf?
I can understand that, and I can't fault them for being responsive, but I was surprised that they have contacted Garmin as me not representing me. The transcript asks for the name contacting them and they say it's me. It's not so much that, I just wondered if other people had had a problem with the battery indicator, so it seems to be ok now I'm just concerned if it does it again. I have until 13th to return but not sure whether to say it's ok now or whether this could be a reoccurring problem.
I would definitely go for a return and replacement now. If it happened once it is likely to happen again. Amazon are fab at returns, especially if you put the reason as faulty.
Fwiw, my year-old Garmin 45s occasionally messes around with charging and has just beeped a warning at me. Switched off and on, will see if it'll condescend to charge.
I'm glad you're getting it sorted. Mine did its most dramatic refusal to work the morning of my trail marathon, so I just assumed it was allergic to events. Managed to recharge it in the car on the way.
At least you'll get an official chip time from your race so your time will be recorded, though if you're used to using your watch to pace yourself (I don't) that would be annoying.
Does sound like a dodgy outfit. My personal experience of Amazon's customer service has always been excellent, and if it were me I think I would be starting a return through the Amazon website.
I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction, Hedgehogs.
Take advantage of the return policy Hedgehogs. As others have said, even though the watch appears to be working now, the problem might recur and then you’ll be kicking yourself.
I’m not a fan of the way my Vivoactive charges; annoying connection on the back of the watch, so it can’t lie flat. I have to jiggle it around to make sure it’s charging and then it charges scarily quickly which makes me suspicious. It does though.
I’m not sure I’d trust yours from what you said, especially with it being brand new.
Sorry you've been having problems. Your contract is with the retailer, not Garmin Hedgehogs123 , as explained here: which.co.uk/consumer-rights...
Take it up with Amazon, though if it's a third party seller it's actually their responsibility unless they're part of Customer Service by Amazon: amazon.com/gp/help/customer...
