7 miles - just over halfway there

Not feeling very eloquent right now but wanted to post that I made it to 7 miles on my half marathon walk-run training plan today. My longest ever run. What's more, I did it on a treadmill which is such a different experience!

Have had the treadmill for 2 weeks now & I'm learning how to make the best of indoor runs. I think the traffic & pedestrians & hills outside are about equally matched by the obstacles of being very hot, running at one pace & keeping the cat away while I run, ha! Both types of run have their pluses & minuses. Definitely prefer outside but I live somewhere very hilly & it's soooo convenient to be able to run at home.

Ideally I'd have done this week's long run outside, but my feet are unhappy on uneven/cambered surfaces at the moment whereas they have zero complaints on the flat. So I loaded up an audiobook, plenty of water & some sugary chews & dug deep. Pace was slow but I think my speeds will be different on the day of the HM.

Proud of myself, hope I'm not too sore tomorrow (& hope my feet heal & let me back outside again soon).

If you're getting hot, maybe a fan on a low setting just to get the air moving round you?

Well done! Yes, very different, treadmill to outdoors! Your pace will be very different on the day but you also need to be able to manage that as the excitement will have you taking off too fast but plenty of time to learn to tame that. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 for your feet. Foot pain is the worst 🙈

Thank you! Foot is much happier today, especially if I wear my bounciest Saucony's, so I'm optimistic.

Well done! Hitting the half way point and then some is very motivating 👍

The image of the cat trying to jump on the treadmill made me laugh 😂They are so inquisitive. I once had a cat that followed me to school …

Good luck with the rest of your training 🍀 perhaps your cat wants to do it with you 😂

Thank you! When I was a student a cat on our street once followed us to a club 😆. Thankfully it was a local one & found it's way home okay!

Wow, well done. That's a long treadmill run! Even with a book it's hard to escape the monotony of the treadmill. Well apart from the cat ... that sounds very stressful!!!

Thanks everyone! And don't worry, the cat's not allowed in the same room as the treadmill, but that's the problem, she hates closed doors & wails outside the whole time, desperate to come in 🤣🐈
