Waiting for AlMorr, my running buddy to report back ๐๐๐๐
Come on Alan I really hope you made it ๐
I don't know but you must have sent me some kind of magical powers.. coz I just took 7 Whole Minutes off my previous best 10 Miles ๐๐๐
Wow I'm astounded that was blooming great!!!
First 5 K took it slow and found it quite tough to find my comfortable pace but kept going knowing that it can take me to K 6/7 to find it๐
Was brilliant visualising AlMorr, just up ahead of me.. willing me along.. and there were plenty thistles to remind me of him running in my old home Scotland โค๏ธ
I was laughing to myself thinking of lots of you on the forum.. Frenc.. Linda.. IP.. Oldfloss..Peter 44 and many more all waving your pom poms for us ๐คฃ๐คฃ
At 8 K I wondered if I'd be able to manage to ten miles.. those gremlins started poking their ugly heads from the bushes..
Focus Caroline.. you got this..dig deep.. head up.. enjoy the music.. the nature, thought's of my upcoming holiday with my mum, 3 sister's , daughter and neice,
We having a lockdown freedom holiday in Dunoon at the end of this month ๐ค
Then I'm at 12K and my pace was fine, I'm enjoying it.. good.. legs feeling strong.. and I know I'm doing well..๐
Just got to get through that last couple of K now where I can feel my hips and lower back beginning to protest, but knowing..I felt this just over a week ago when I ran my HM so knew it was a matter of .. just keeping going ๐ช
I get on the home stretch..two Ks to go and Im thinking of AlMorr..come on running buddy ..we got this.. keep going ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐
And there you all are at the finish line waving your pom poms๐๐๐
Thank you all..
A PB to be proud of ๐๐ฅ๐โโ๏ธ๐ช๐ ๐

Congratulations to you sparky66 on that 10 miles PB run, I replied on another post but I will repeat my report here again.I started my run this morning at exactly 7.30, the first 10K went by fine in a time of 1.13.58 next 2Ks not too bad, however, after that I definitely slowed down a lot, my quickest kilometer was no. 4 at 7.18 the slowest being the last, the 15th at 8.52 min/km, my overall time was 2.04.27 which was due to the first 11 kilometers, once again congratulations to you for that PB.
From now on my longest run will be 10K, no more thoughts of running a half marathon.
Thank you ๐ and actually feeling ok now.. but have to go shopping,I'm not really looking forward to that, but I'm sure a slow walk will ease my muscles ๐
That's brilliant, was just looking at my only 10 miler that i've done, took 2hours, 15 mins, so you smashed it with that time today, there's just no stopping you atm!!! ๐๐๐
AHH thanks Peter ๐ I'm so pleased with my running ATM.. all my strength training and healthy eating really does pay off for me.. although ๐I've just bought in a couple of lagers for tonight..๐
Hope things good with you..take care.. and keep running ๐โญ
Very well done sparky66 and AlMorr for running 10 miles today. As promised, I set off for 10k to accompany you but due to record breaking faffage, I didnโt get to the start line until 0918 when it had got to 18C. You were probably well and truly finished by then. But suntan lotion applied, banana eaten and warm up exercises done , I finally set off.
I was trying to keep a slow pace to make sure I completed it, but it was getting hotter by the minute. I did it in 1 hr 21 mins (average pace 8:05 min/km) and the sweat was pouring off me.
My route took me along a quieter road to the Hayling Island ferry crossing but when I returned to Southsea prom it was very busy as visitors were arriving with paddle boards and everything but the kitchen sink for their day on the beach. The sky was blue and the sea a flat calm, so very different from our weekend gales and torrential rain.
A highlight of the run was seeing a Spitfire and a Harvard flying along the coast, bringing back memories of last month when UpTheStanley flew in a spitfire for his big zero birthday pressie , and me accompanying him in the Harvard . A wonderful day.
Iโm also on the journey to 10 miles, as I head towards the Great South Run, but Iโm glad I wasnโt doing that today. ๐ฅตโ๏ธ
That was a warm run for you today Dexy5, well done, you would have started your run before me or Sparky66 finished ours, we were running virtually at the same time and pace for that matter, both of us began our run at 7.30 am and finished just after half past nine, our times were only 17 seconds of a difference,
Sparky66 :-2:04:44
Alan :-2:04:27, so as you can see we were almost the same time, congratulations to her on that Personal Best.
Thatโs excellent times from you both. I did the GSR in 2019 in 2:16.05 so I am way behind you. Mind you, Iโll be glad just to be able to run it all.
Ah thatโs amazing Soarky, 7 minutes is a staggering time to take off! I was definitely waving my pom poms for you at 7:30 this morning, and doing an anti gremlin dance for you.
Thinking about all the positive things like your holiday with your family must have given you that extra spurt, brilliant.
That is definitely a PB to be proud of, Iโm made up for you ๐. I think you may have nailed this running malarkey ๐คฉ hurrah! ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Thanks frenc, I honestly can't believe I took 7 minutes off.. ๐It didn't seem particularly better than my last.. but maybe thinking of AlMorr running ahead of me spurred me on ๐
So what does the anti gremlins dance look like.. whaahaha.. are you running in front of me hands gnarled side to side shaking your tail feathers ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
But feelings are great about running ATM..
Quite emotional actually, hard to believe how far we've come.. but I know we put the work in.. ๐ช
You should be very proud! The anti gremlin dance ๐บ involves a bit of arm shaking and making strange ghost noises, basically youโre scaring them away ๐.
Ah you have every right to be feeling a bit emotional, itโs such a journey isnโt it, and not just physical.
Anyway. I did 3.5k this morning, legs were a bit heavy and Iโm trying to break in some different shoes. I may need to pimp them up a bit with some insoles or something! It felt like I was going really fast, but it was quite slow! But it got the legs moving and thatโs all I was after.
Next oneโs Friday, looking forward to it as itโll be a just see where the mood takes me run. I feel under a bit less pressure to do certain distances for now, but Iโm sure that wonโt last!
Anyway, I bet youโre having something yummy for your tea. And how exciting to be going on your hols soon! ๐๐๐
Love the dance๐ป๐๐คฃWell done on getting out..it's a tough one after that HM !!!
New shoes aswell.. it's like a lottery getting the right fit.. I spent more than I'd have liked on my recent shoes.. and they were too tight in the toe box, but as they were brook's I got an exchange for a half size up no bother..๐
Exactly you got out for a run that's a tickโ๏ธ
I was looking at my chart and it was 10 days ago I done my half,so you never know you may be feeling the need soon enough ๐
As for tea..I had bean casserole with a very large dumpling..
But being naughty tonight and having a couple of lagers.. was going to make an excuse of having a stressful week..but..lol ๐ป๐คฃ
