Managed 18km yesterday, my longest ever run having only completed C25K in Spring. On my way to a half marathon distance on New Yearβs Eve then the Wokingham HM Race in Feb ππΌππΌππ»π€

Longest Run
Wow that's fabulous progress and a cracking way to end the year!!!
Well done! π
Did you bring snacks and something to drink with you?
I went from 18km being my longest to doing the HM (but there were a few months in between).
It might be helpful to drop back a little on the distance on your next long run (eg. 15km) before increasing again, especially if you found 18km hard towards the end.
I think Iβll be dropping back a couple of KMs on Sunday, but luckily it wasnβt too bad at the end. I carried water with electrolytes, and had two gels on route so hopefully that helped energise me. I may have to work out what to have pre-longer runs as all I do now is have a banana.
Fuel your running adequately as your legs will stop. Itβs weird when you βbonkβ. You feel your legs βgoβ. It happened to me once! βΊοΈ
I always have my daily bowl of porridge, with an added blob of nut butter on run day. If Iβm delayed βΉοΈ Iβll have a snack before setting off, of white toast and peanut butter π. If Iβm to be running over an hour I tote a trusty snack. Homemade peanut power bar in my case. Before becoming a runner I hated peanut butter π€·ββοΈπ
In time youβll evolve a system that suits you. It can be a but hit and miss at first but youβll crack it
Good luck and bon voyage ππ
Thanks. A bowl of porridge I can do! Iβll try that this Sunday.
Well done you!! Really positive signs here πππ
Well done. You can do it!
