My longest run to date

Hi fellow runners (it's great being able to say that). I've been running at least one 10k a month in between the usual 6-7k lunchtime runs with a view to extending to HM distance at some point.

Today I set off for my 10k at lunchtime and kept the pace lower than usual to see how I would feel about adding distance after 10k. I really enjoyed that run and found that I was no longer counting down the km in my head and just enjoying being out there.

10k seemed to come around in no time, and due to a slight detour due to getting lost in a housing estate I still wasn't back at work, so I added a little extra to bump it up to 11k. Very pleased to say that I still felt good and I am now beginning to believe that I could do HM distance. Watch this space!

Yep. Slow down, find your "run all day" pace, then look at the scenery!

Edit - Oops...I forgot to say "Welcome to the nut house" I knew you'd wash-up here sooner or later ;-)

You will soon, you have so much better pace than I can ever have, just extend out the distance and you will be doing 2 hr HMs in no time 👍

You have it all Mike.👏👏

I am so slow, so it is about time management.

After many weeks of playing around with many 5k-10K’s, I just decided to go 8k, 10K, 12k & 15k inside 2-3 weeks and went for it.

Anything more for me is futile because it is just too many hours.

Also although I jogged every step, it’s just a bit quicker for me than brisk walking anyway.🙈

Only done one HM solo round the park.

Just dialled it in, and used JuJu’s 5k reward system, from my backpack while running.3.5 hours🙈😂

You will be over the line before you need sustenance.🤔🙈😂😂

Look forward to your journey.

Go you, 💥🏃‍♂️💥🔥👏👏

You so can! You might slow down at first but eventually I bet you'll get your pace back up! 😊 Me and Ted are inspiring you! 🤣😆🏃‍♀️

Indeed you are. Lots of those who graduated around the time I did are already doing HM. I need to get my finger out!

We know you can do a HM. Glad you are starting to realise it too. With your great pace you have loads of capacity to slow down a bit and just keep going. Add a mile a week to a long run and you will soon be there. Might mean having to do weekend runs unless you have very flexi time at work!

Wow, that's a great time for 11km, one I can only dream of. But you did well and in your lunch hour.

I still haven't made it over to Sundon Park to run yet, I always seem to end up in the villages around Caddington or on the bike path to Harpenden. But as my distances are increasing I need to find some new scenery to admire without increasing the hills too much.

Thank you! I used Turnpike Drive as my turnaround loop :)

It is surprising how hilly the area is. It's not really noticeable until you try running in it!
