Hi fellow runners (it's great being able to say that). I've been running at least one 10k a month in between the usual 6-7k lunchtime runs with a view to extending to HM distance at some point.
Today I set off for my 10k at lunchtime and kept the pace lower than usual to see how I would feel about adding distance after 10k. I really enjoyed that run and found that I was no longer counting down the km in my head and just enjoying being out there.
10k seemed to come around in no time, and due to a slight detour due to getting lost in a housing estate I still wasn't back at work, so I added a little extra to bump it up to 11k. Very pleased to say that I still felt good and I am now beginning to believe that I could do HM distance. Watch this space!
We know you can do a HM. Glad you are starting to realise it too. With your great pace you have loads of capacity to slow down a bit and just keep going. Add a mile a week to a long run and you will soon be there. Might mean having to do weekend runs unless you have very flexi time at work!
Wow, that's a great time for 11km, one I can only dream of. But you did well and in your lunch hour.
I still haven't made it over to Sundon Park to run yet, I always seem to end up in the villages around Caddington or on the bike path to Harpenden. But as my distances are increasing I need to find some new scenery to admire without increasing the hills too much.
