Out for a 12k on the trails today. It was a beautiful morning and I enjoyed my run despite it feeling a little tough in places.
However, at about 9k in , I was plodding along the old railway line and seeing a cyclist coming the other way, I moved to the left to give him space. I have no idea what I tripped on - but the next thing I knew, I was flying forwards and crashing down on the dirt track! Luckily I must have instinctively rolled on to my right arm and shoulder, which seemed to break the fall…
The cyclist stopped to check if I was alright - and as I got to my feet, I said those hallowed words - “Oo, I’ll just stop my Garmin!”⌚️ He must have thought I was a bit bonkers ! 🤣 After brushing myself down and assuring him that I “fall well”🤦♀️, I was soon off on my way again!
Home later and just relieved that I was lucky to fall on a soft surface (the joy of trails!) and with just a few grazes to show for my adventures - phew!
Hope everyone else had more uneventful runs today!🙂

Hope all is well? I’m glad you landed fine, those things can go either way. Landing ‘soft’ as you did by rolling instinctively is credit to you because falling ‘stiff’ is not a bundle of laughter. Well done!
I have a running shirt with those words on Sandra!
I had an awful running fall this time last year; no idea what caused it, but I lost weeks of running. You were lucky to be on a softer surface; but you clearly did all the right things. My fall was on a rock hard trail and my right knee and my ribs took the weight.
We have had our falls for this decade…..no more please !😬
I am glad you didn’t get any bumps and bruises! I hate tripping and falling. The moments as you are falling and knowing it is going to hurt ….. horrible 😞 I haven’t tripped for a while now - oh, shouldn’t say that, probably best not to tempt fate!!
oh well done for stopping the Garmin! After one of my falls I had a cut knee that was bleeding but my leggings were completely fine! What’s that about?
There is that awful moment when you know you are going down and you don’t know how it’s going to pan out. Well done you for avoiding more serious injury.
I have my watch on auto pause so it stops when I do but yes, you’ve got to protect your stats while you are checking yourself over. 😂
Many cyclists now are also on Strava or use watches, so I’m sure he’d have understood.
oh blimey, hope you are ok? Thats awful when one minute you're upright and then next you're heading downwards 😣Im a champion at falling, although not done it for a while (hope Im not tempting fate with those words!)
I actually have a t shirt with the same slogan, literally saying ' if I collapse, please pause my watch!'
