... was a negative covid test so I could get out and run!
Oh, and make a start on my bingo card 😍✅🟡
Well yesterday, with some apprehension, off I went on my first run in two weeks.
What joy!!! Gradually my fears slipped away and slowly but surely I relaxed into the run.
I came back feeling energised and don't think I have any repercussions today.
I'm counting myself lucky 🍀
But most importantly it gave me a boost on the elves' bingo card:
✅Walk on Boxing Day
✅Run to Christmas toons
✅Happy HM (a mix of walking and running, and definitely not all in one go!)
✅Seasonal 10k (well it was 12, but it contained a 10k!!!)
It's a start, not a spectacular one ... but a start all the same. And boy does it feel good to be running again. Having had to cancel parkrun on Christmas Eve, then again on Christmas Day, I'm now hopeful of a New Year's Day parkrun ... I do believe that will get me another box ticked won't it?
How about you? have you ticked any boxes? any lines or full houses out there? Do let us know!!!
Happy festive running and walking 🥰

So pleased that you're well and back out there ticking off those Bingo boxes! The Bingo has been exactly what I needed to get me over that door step so thanks to you, Cmoi , the elves and anyone else involved in putting it together. I have only partially completed but have so enjoyed the diversion.
To date :
🌲 Christmas Joy .5.6km Delivered Christmas cards on a lovely chilled Christmas eve run on a new route.
🌲Holly day run- 6.65km on Boxing day after travelling home from family Christmas......such a brilliant way to unwind after the chaos!
🌲Seasonal 10k on Wednesday-wind, rain and a good supply of comedy podcasts had me running around town laughing . Fortunately the poor weather meant very few witnesses. My best run for ages!! Cobwebs blown away and head space we'll and truly cleared!
🌲Happy HM -by adding the above together I believe!
🌲Treat mysELF - last piece of Christmas cake consumed after this morning's 7km.
🌲......what next?
Thanks again to the Admin team and everyone else involved.
Good to hear that you are out and about again Linda, it's so frustrating when you can't get out for a run.I have made a little progress on the bingo card
✅ Spreading Christmas joy, delivering cards and pressies. A must given the postal strike and price of stamps.
✅ Run free - this was not intentional. I had a mild panic when I arrived at the beach for a run, only to realise that I had left my watch, phone, running belt and hat at home! It was surprisingly enjoyable.
✅ Treat yourself after a run. An easy one and a good use of mince pies.
✅ Walk with hubby on boxing day.
I'm hoping to ✅ a few more over the next few days. Happy New Year to one and all. 🎉
Yes, definitely felt naked! 😂😱.I've run 5k this morning, so I'm off now to walk my friend's giant poodle for a 10k ✅. The things you do for HU bingo! 😂😂
That's such a positive post Linda, and a negative test the best gift. Me? A rotten cold, but I think I'm over the worst and contemplating a walk. Back to work tomorrow but off Sunday for a new year run
It's good to see you here again 🥰I am resting lots!!! The last thing I want is any long term repercussions 😱 that's one advantage of cancelling everything- lots of time on my hands all of a sudden 😍Happy running, whether you decide to tick boxes or not 😊
✅ Happy HM - most definitely cumulative, and a mixture of runs and walks
✅ A lovely Boxing Day Walk with Mr B
✅ New Year Novelty - or does this not count until Jan 1st? Santa brought me some lovely new Injinji's, and I have a new bra and leggings in the Sweaty Betty Sale
✅✅✅✅ Treat YoursELF - have been consistently doing this since I finished work on the 16th (run or no run! 😀)
So good to see you out running again Linda, and bingo boxes ticked already. It’s great that you ran 12km. I do love a runny bingo card but as I’m now in isolation at home I can’t do any more, but maybe if the weather improves a gentle jogette might be in order. What I did manage to do was:
I ran parkrun on Christmas Day ⭐️
I did a good deed by taking the sorted tokens for use that day and then taking them home to sort again ⭐️
I wore a Reindeer Run T-shirt and Golden antlers and carried some jingle bells ⭐️
I also played my Christmas toons loud on my phone ⭐️
I had Festive treats on return home (this is ongoing) ⭐️
Oh what fun it is to run at parkrun on Christmas Day 🎵🎶🎵🎶
I also ended up on the parkrun video so here is a screenshot for evidence
Love the photo Dexy!!! I went for a few solitary walks while I was positive- really easy to avoid people round here - but held off on the running. You vertaunly made a good hit on ticking the Christmas boxes, good going 😊
I have to confess I haven’t been for a run since a week last Monday and I am feeling a little guilty. However, my stinky cold has returned with a vengeance, hubby is now on antibiotics and steroids because his has turned into a chest infection (my fault apparently) and the weather has been mostly horrid. However, I am determined to turn up for parkrun tomorrow and then make more of an effort in 2023.
Sometimes we just have to listen to our bodies and take a break, anything else would be counter productive. There's always the pleasure of the comeback to look forward to 😊 Enjoy parkrun. I hope you both feel much better very soon, and that your hubby finds it in his heart to forgive you 😍
We’re off for a big celebration ski trip next weekend too (hubby’s 70th) with kids, grandkids and the friends we’ve been skiing with for over 25 years, so need to be on top form 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I do hope you are both better soon Sandie1961. Colds have come back with a vengeance this winter and I think anyone who hasn’t had one so far is extremely lucky. Hope Mr S has a fantastic 70th birthday trip.
Thank you 😊 Hope you recover quickly and are back out again too. Mind you, it is taking me all my resolve to go to parkrun this morning. It’s pouring down 😫
I’d promised myself I’d go (first time for 4 weeks) so I did. 33.52 and still coughing, but it stopped raining just as the run started, I’ve had a shower and a bacon roll and coffee, so I reckon it was a good call
As I missed out on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day parkruns, I was determined to do New Year’s Eve. Rather slow at 33.52 and I had a couple of short walks to get my breathing under control, but I feel better for having done it xx
You're doing really well linda9389 , and it's great to hear that others are having fun too! All I've managed so far is a Christmas Day walk with festive treats after.
That spunds pretty perfect to me 😍. I'm looking forward to a deliberate treat after parkrun New Year's day. Just have to decide which leftovers it will be 😍😍😍
That’s such great news Linda! I was so pleased to see your very relieved run on Strava! 😅
I didn’t actually see the bingo card when it came out but I’ve just had a look at Cmoi’s post and I seem to have done quite a few of them inadvertently:
🎄Santa dash - I dressed up as a reindeer at the Christmas Eve parkrun (photo on Al’s parkrun post)
🎄I did a 10k with Katnap delivering Christmas cards (does that count for two?), and there’s the Winter Series 10k of course
🎄I’ve indulged in loads of after run treats because I’ve been running everyday this month and I can justify every last chocolate 🤣
🎄As a consequence of R5kED December, I’ve run Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and done the cumulative HM
🎄I’ve attached a piccie of our rather battered reindeer Strava art 🤣
I’m quite chuffed with that list 😁 Still plenty of time to add to it, New Years Day parkrun will certainly cover one of them 🥳 Maybe it should be R5kED December +1 day…
Fabulous challenge all, thank you and happy New Running Year to everybody
