So, a late run report after Sunday's effort in Cheshire.

I was nervous about the start but managed to find my group of starters near the back. Such a beautiful venue and a flat course.

Started off and found my stride. I'd over heard a lady in the crowd say that her last race had been around the time I was aiming for and kept an eye out for her. Her pace helped me along for quite a while.

I knew that I was running a quick pace and checked myself in the early miles. I felt good and was distracted by the surroundings and people.

I could see that I'd beaten my fastest 10k but felt strong and kept going. I was determined to get to 7 miles strong and then go for 8 miles, a distance I like. Then all I had to do was hit 10 miles. I knew the last 3 miles would be a slog and it was.

I was relieved to finish, very relieved. When I looked at my time I couldn't quite believe it as I'd beaten my target time and run my fastest 5k, 10k and 20k. So I guess the NRC training really worked. I'm not quite sure how I feel now as the training has been a motivation over the summer. I don't think I'd hurry to do another, at least yet. But, maybe try and work at 10k.

Massive thanks for those pom poms, they must have been working overtime. Good luck to everyone running this weekend!

Thanks Linda! At least they didn’t make the course any longer like the Brighton Marathon!

As a fledgling runner I have yet to explore them all!
