Oops! How did that happen?

Went out yesterday to buy some food for the weekend. Decided to call in to the running shop on the way to see if they have any suitable gaiters (to prevent losing my shoes in mud and to keep nettles off). Ended up with these instead (see photo in my reply below).

Yes, it did. Nasty big toe on the right.

Thanks. I mis-judged the balance between nails too short (digging in) and too long (turning black). Since that photo, I've developed a new nail. It needs to settle down for a while but it's a much better match with the others now.

NB this refers to the test image which I've now replaced with the photo that I meant to use.

Err, my new "gaiters".

Tried them out running to ParkRun and back this morning (around 7k each way). They were fine on the way there. On the way back, the weather was kind enough to give them a good test by chucking buckets of water at me. I also picked a route with a muddy path. Pleased to say that they remained comfortable under test, no sign of any blistering and traction was excellent. They're also padded enough to handle the on-road sections.

So, overall, I'm very pleased with my new gaiters! I have a little outing around the outskirts of Bristol next weekend and may give them a further test then.

Oh, and the shop assistant suggested using duck tape to prevent shoes detaching in gloopy mud.

Nettle problem resolved by digging out my compression socks (which are knee length).

U sick the tape to your legs? 🙈

Wrap it around the centre of the shoe. I maybe should have asked for more info. There's always a chance that someone on here will have the answer.

One thing I'm confident about though is that a separate piece of tape should be used for each shoe.

16 gaiters? I need to check when the running shop re-opens!
