I seem to have run a Half Marathon distance! I was planning to wait until next Wednesday but I got up to 19k and felt alright so it seemed daft not to add on the extra bit whilst I had the chance. This weekend and next week look really busy, so I thought that maybe I wouldn't been In good fettle next week either. Sorry Cheekychipmunks for jumping the gun!
I thought that I would have to drop down to 8min/k so I am quite pleased with the time. I have said this before but, I have no ambition to run any further than a HM. Thanks to roseabi for her plan (which I adapted to fit in with my age and fitness!!) and to all VRBs who are so kind and encouraging. The only person I wanted to run this distance for was me; just to prove to myself that it was possible. I like 10ks and 10 miles is ok; I won't be doing to many HMs!!! Where is the chocolate...I have to eat my way through 1730 lost calories!!๐

Thanks Sask! Nothing more dangerous that a hunting buzzard today. I have never felt so hungry in years!! I would have preferred to do it at the same time as VRBs but us old timers have to grab the opportunity when it presents itself! Probably my first and last!๐
I made roast sprouts tacos with peanut sauce tโother day after enjoying them in the US. They were eating Brussels everywhere while we were there ๐.
Wow BC! You little tinker ๐ For somebody who was going to stick at 10k you have done brilliantly. Mahoosive congratulations and enjoy those tacos and maybe a little celebratory tipple ๐ฎ๐ฅ
Iโve just replied to your other post - yep, youโre still cheeky and sneaky! ๐ ๐ Again, huge well done to you BC, youโre epic! ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐
Apart from falling over occasionally(!) you seem to keep out of injury trouble...no reason why you shouldnโt breeze it. Weather is cooling off too. All looks good โน๏ธ
Yes, just the knee niggle to think about. Physio booked for next Friday, so I wonโt run on if that starts again. The cooler weather and a slow pace will be perfect.
My OH thinks that I am mad as it is... but very supportive ๐ . I met an amazing marathon runner at Park Run last week. Older than me, and running marathons for fun. So I know that age isnโt an excuse... but a half is way further than I ever intended to go. I am not tempted to go further in the slightest at the moment. ๐๐
Thereโs no reason to ๐I just felt that it was unfinished business and I was interested to know if I had it in me It seems I did. Who knew ๐คทโโ๏ธ๐
They went down very well thanks Bethmay!! Keeping hydrated and chilling out now. May be due for a two day rest from running!Slow beach dog walk seems to be about right! ๐
Huge well done you... and just to encourage you.. i said I would never do another HM, ( even though I enjoyed it) , like you, I did it, just to see if I could...
Thanks Oldfloss. Apart from the last 2k, when my legs felt a bit heavy, the run didnโt feel too bad; so I am not feeling โnever againโ. I think that I need to build up through 10ks run with others ( first one booked)followed by 10 miles, and then maybe I will think about another HM, but this time as part of an event rather than just running the distance on my own. I am happy with my own company but running with others does add something.
Oh lovely! Enjoy your stroll with Molly. ๐ถ ITB is still being naughty, seeing my physio now. Thanks for asking! x
Well done, that is an awesome accident! Beware the hangry post long run state that has you raiding every fridge and cupboard in sight like someone possessed ๐คฃ I wonder how long before you are booking up to do a hm ๐ค
Well that's a great mistake Beachcomber - well done on your fantastic run! Sometimes it's good to 'seize the day', especially as you felt so good at 19k๐๐
