I’m irritated and so is my right outer thigh. I had only ran a couple of 5ks a week for a couple of weeks as I had a tooth abscess and felt yukky with antibiotics.
Last Tuesday I did a 10k but felt tired doing it but ploughed on- I had just worked 2 night shifts, little food and it was a hot day. The day after I had the most awful achey pain down right outer thigh. I took anti inflammatory and pain relief and rested for 2 days. On Thursday, I did a 5K but was painfull. Then silly me went Gaelic football training on Saturday and it’s now sore and I’ve been told be the coach to rest for at least a week…. I’m worried now as I’m training for a big fancy Half Marathon at the end of August.. aaahhhhhhhhh😵

Physio seems like a good idea. Since you've already up to HM distance, a week off now won't affect your running but an injury certainly will so the IC really does seem to be the best thing to do.
Arggghhh how frustrating! Add the stress of an upcoming event and it all gets very itritating! Definitely visit a physio or sports massage therapist if you can. Knowing exactly what you can and cannot do will really help get you back for that HM. Good luck.
In my experience of IT band irritation, it can take a while to settle down. Early intervention by a physio/osteo may be necessary to sort the root cause.
Thanks - I’ve been in touch with my physio and have been given some stretches and gentle exercises to do and told to avoid running for a week at least 🏃🏽♀️👍🏻
