I ran a 5km today 😊. Upon observing my runs, I don’t know if it is the consistency that I’m not used to, but my pace feels slower. I don’t want to overwork my body so I think after my final run this week I will take a week off from running consistently and focus on cross training and strength training, as well as stretching. I’m very happy with my progress so far and the last thing I want to do is jeopardise that by overdoing it. I’m used to going to the gym and using weights in conjunction with running and honestly I feel like I’m losing what little muscle I had built, which is affecting my running. I don’t have much equipment at home but I know that body weight exercises are a great option. So that is what is on my mind right now.
How do you guys balance running and strength training? Or perhaps you don’t and if so how does this affect you?
Hope everyone is having a good day.

I used to love doing strength training in the gym but since the pandemic it's been hard to motivate myself to do it at home and I've been focusing more on my running. However, I know I would need it, especially building my core strength as I get aches and pains in my back when I really shouldn't! I tried to do a 3 minute plank exercise a while ago that I used to do all the time and I really struggled, so, I will pick up the weights again... At some point! 💪💪💪
Oh yes, I remember strength training in the days before I took up running 🤣 oops. My strength training now comes in lifting and carrying toddler hugs who was born heavy and tall and has remained that way🤣 I do however do a lot of walking on my non run days. Happy running 🤗
I haven't seen toddler hugs since he was baby hugs mid December, I m sure hes put on a few kgs and hes certainly stretched loads, he was already on 97th centile but daughter says hes now over that with his height. 🤣 he had visit to hospital a few weeks ago and none of the pediatricians could believe his age. So it definitely counts as strength training.
