The last two runs have been a Parkrun on Saturday and a long easy run today (Monday).
I wanted to run another quick 5k this week in place of the week 2 proposed fartlek. I achieved this and was happy with the consistent splits and being just a couple of seconds behind my PB.
Yesterday was a rest day at the start of week 3, and today, an easy 12k to include some hills. I got off to a great start and it really was easy running for the whole 12k.
I felt a familiar twinge in my inner right ankle after 3k so I slowed up even further and even walked a couple of times.
I have iced it and elevated it this evening and I have noticed a slight swelling but Iโm hoping it will calm down overnight. ๐ฌ Supposed to be a run tomorrow but Iโm going to rest up. Not taking any chances at this stage.

Ahhh no, Brian, thatโs not allowed. ๐ At least you noticed it quickly and have hopefully nipped it in the bud. Rest up and take it easy for a little while. Youโre sure to be ok. ๐
What is it about upcoming races that our bodies start to complain and little niggly things appear? You know what youโve got to do. Fingers crossed itโll be alright on the day ๐ค
It is so annoying - everything was on track too for a sub 45 - now I'll be happy just to run it. C'est la vie. I will have to remember how old I am in future. ๐ Happy to just be able to take part and let this target disappear over the horizon for now.
