Hi, I'm due to have a cataract operation in a couple of weeks. I've been advised to avoid strenuous exercise for 1-2 weeks after. I wondered if anyone had gone through the same and how they found running afterwards? Was 2 weeks about right or did you find you had to wait longer. Realise everyone's experience will be different but interested to hear how it went for others. I'm about half way through a half marathon training programme so may have to go back a couple of weeks when I start running again. Thanks!

Running after cataract surgery
My friend just had surgery and was told 4 weeks! I’ve screenshot this to shoe her 1-2 weeks instead 🤣 I thought 4 was extreme!
I'd ask your surgeon, he'll be able to give realistic timescale rather than a general rule. Your eyesight is more important than a couple of missed weeks running. Take care 🤗
I have no experience, sorry. But two weeks out isn't long enough to lose much fitness. There may be other zero impact exercises you can do that will help maintain leg and core fitness - do check first though. Two weeks is a really short blip in your training in the grand scheme of things. Good luck and take care.
It's the bouncing about that will cause problems, I suspect. You're best following the advice of the surgery team. Running fitness you can regain. Your eyesight is another matter.
Not much fitness is lost in a couple of weeks and it’s easier to regain it if you start with a good level of fitness. The rest might even help improve performance long term. I’ve no experience of this surgery but eyes are definitely more important than missing a couple of weeks of running. I would stick to doing some walking maybe.
