Bizarrely even with running at 6.30am in temperatures of -2 degrees, this was one of my most comfortable runs. I managed to run 4 loops around the Heath and my legs were able to cope with it well, before running along the flat and making my descent towards Kentish Town at around 8K.
The six months of regular running is now paying dividends and I never thought I’d be able to run 7 miles in relative comfort. Though it was a modest pace (only the first KM was under 8mins per KM and the rest was the low 8s) I felt there was a little more in the tank (until the final K) and I wasn’t out of breath at the end. Running with the only person in my bubble is a boon too and we keep each other honest around the circuit.
The plan is to increase the distance by 1K every week and I’ll be ready for the half marathon in May. I want to run a fast 5K next week to obliterate my PB and add a bit of interval training to my running schedule. The best thing of all is that my injured ankle and tight hamstring felt a lot better as I’ve been doing exercises and massaging them.
Onwards and upwards!
