Happy New Year, everyone ! Today was my first 10 mile attempt - semi jeffing it. I say โsemiโ because my intervals are a bit longer than in Jeffโs plan, ie I run 1km run, 30 seconds walk (though towards the end the intervals were a bit erratic) ๐คฃ - however I did run the entire last mile without jeffing. Ie finished in style you could say. Phew ! But thanks to Coach Bennett, who Iโve been two-timing with, I have a proper record of the run (and thanks, Coach, for keeping me going!). Something was up with Garmin GPS today - first of all it took ages to get a GPS signal and Iโd already run a km before it started ! Then it was buzzing my km splits a bit too enthusiastically - giving me 4 mins, 5mins, one was even under 4mins at 3:57 ๐คฃ I mean thatโs really not me - Iโm ecstatic if I come in under 7mins per km ! Clearly something wrong as coach Bennett was giving me different countdown altogether and was closer to what felt like reality.
Long story short I did it (blast him for introducing fartlek at 7 miles - gah !! Iโll shake HIM up a little bit if he tries to โshake things up a littleโ again !) - and hurrah I did it. Sense of relief it was over rather than joy, suggesting maybe I wasnโt ready for it...
anyway, the Garmin wouldnโt sync for a while and then when it did I had to laugh - itโs had me running around a completely different part of London for a while - places Iโve never been (and never likely to) - including rather curious place called Locksbottom - and only seems to have picked up my real location at about 6.5 miles in (according to Nike app). So according to Garmin Iโve run over 12 miles with an elevation gain of 8315 metres !! Well, thatโs nearly Everest !! ๐๐
In reality Iโll only โclaimโ the Nike app data - 10 miles and 143 metre elevation gain, 2hours 8 mins, average km pace 7:58.
Now for some food. Ravenous !!! ๐ maybe a nap a bit later. ๐ด I love Sundays !
