Yesterday I embarked on my longest run yet. As part of a HM Garmin coach plan with Amy, it’s week 9 of 23 weeks.
The longest I’d run so far was 14k a few weeks ago in Exmoor (but I did stop for 5 mins during that as I got lost). 😄
I’m not sure what happened but I ran the whole 16k (10miles) and in a time that was decent for me. I also managed to keep my heart rate in Zone 3 for 90% Of the run, which for me is pretty amazing.
I did have a banana at the 10k stage, which I think )or at least felt) that it helped me compete the rest. Considering the distance and the time (quick of me) I felt very good at the end and I could have even run further but I should keep to the training plan. It’s got me this far.
One thing that was new, Runners Nipple. Ouch! That stings. It rained for a quite a bit of my run and I got soaked. The 2 hours running and the weight of a wet running top didn’t help. Going to tape up next time.
Apart from that though I’m very pleased to have broken the 10mile barrier. 🥳
