Newbie alert - what next?

Hi all,

I CANNOT believe that I can run 10k, having started C25K at the beginning of 2020. I think I've done 4 now, and I'm delighted & ridiculously pleased with myself. I almost packed it in at the start, because I thought my wonky hip would rebel, but the running has actually helped it! Now I'm doing a 10k roughly once a week with 2 other shorter runs of about 5-7k (get me) on the other 2 days. I'm still slower than an arthritic snail but I wanted to ask, since I'm not too fussed about getting much faster (I suspect that really would mess with said hip) , what an appropriate next milestone would be? 10 miles maybe? I feel on a good day as if I could just keep going, so I need to train properly, take my time and not be too ambitious. I would absolutely love to manage a half marathon distance ultimately. Then I think I'd get a tattoo (yes, a reason and a design I think I could live with 😁). Can anyone recommend a training programme/app? Thanks in advance to all. (P.s. have also signed up for LEJOG5).

Just like getting from running 5K to 10K you could gradually increase your runs to 16K/10 miles by increasing by 1 Kilometre a week until you get to 16K., that is the way I got from 10K to 16K.

Thanks! I'm in no rush right enough (& I see there is a 10 mile badge πŸ€”πŸ˜‰). So far I'm hoping to just keep plugging away at it until I get there. I did 10.5k yesterday, so onwards & upwards I guess !

Oops I'm playing catch up today and have read your posts in the wrong order! Still, you seem to have found your way to the right place already.

10 miles is a fabulous achievement in it's own right, and a great goal en route to a HM.

Have fun!!!

No worries, I've been doing the same today! I expect it to take me a while, but I'm in no rush .
