Just completed UnfitNoMore's Quest to run 10 miles by the end of July, I ran non stop and only had a drink when I completed the run.

Awesome run Al! πππββοΈππͺπ
Well done Al!!! Have a badge πππ
Thank you very much Roseabi for putting "10 miles" next to my username, I ran that 10 miles non stop in weather which varied from quite heavy rain to completely dry within a few minutes, I was cheered on by a few people around the 10K mark, I was going to stop at 10K but the rain at that part was at its heaviest that I just decided to continue, apart from the weather I enjoyed that, my longest ever run, running non stop for a little over two hours.
That is brilliant! Well done! Be proud!
Thank you very much Chris141, I do feel proud of myself for running non stop for just over two hours, I was thinking before the run that I would either stop for a short break at 10k or walk for two minutes but as it was raining at its heaviest at 10K I just continued running.
Congratulations on your fantastic 10 mile run AlMorr! ππͺI couldn't do that distance without water or fuel though - we are all different! π
Thanks Sandraj39, there was enough water falling from the sky at the 10K distance without me taking my water bottle out of my running belt, I just kept going until I completed the run and had a drink of diluted orange juice at the end of the run, when I got back home I had a coffee and a caramel short cake. π ππΎ
I don't know how you do it! Well done π
Thanks 59er, I am not sure how I do it either, I started with C25K in April 2018, worked through the program without needing to repeat any weeks, graduated from C25K in June 2018.
Started gradually to increase the distance to 10K, have ran 10/10Ks, a 11K, 12K and last Wednesday I ran 13K, so today should have been 14K, however, with only just over two km until the 10 miles distance which is a little more than 16K I thought that I "would go for it" today, hence me running ten miles this morning. π ππΎ
I am impressed!
Not sure what I will run next Wednesday, for the last 7 weeks I have been running at least one 10K, perhaps I might for old times sake run, run 3 of week 9 of C25K, I still have the C25K app on my Smartphone.

WHAT AN EPIC ACHIEVEMENT!!
Well done my friend in such a terrific achievement and a milestone distance. I'm so made up for you. You trained for this and set a goal and bit by bit you got there. 2 hours mate is epic. You are an inspiration to us all on here. Rest well and enjoy something to celebrate!
Thank you very much GTFC, in recent weeks when I was running 11,12 and 13K runs I have had a short walk for about two minutes at 10K, this morning with the rain β at its heaviest for a very short while at 10K I just continued running until I completed the run, my exact time at 16k was two hours, two minutes and 27 seconds, so the exact time for ten miles was more likely to be a little less than the 2.04.14 shown above which is more than ten miles, nevertheless thank you for your very kind complements regarding my longest ever run of just over two hours. π ππΎ
Brilliant! Congratulations on a great milestone run πππ
Al that is, to use the US vernacular, JUST AWESOME. Huge congratulations Good time too. I always have a drink (on the run) at 10k on longer runs because it gives me a bit of a lift, and then I pig out on protein when I have finished to stop me falling asleep! It is great to have another fellow mature runner on here. ππππππππΊ
Thanks Beachcomber66, there was enough water falling from the sky just at 10K, all I was wearing was a T Shirt and shorts, so I was soaked to the skin, not really in the mood for a drink, anyway, I continued onto ten miles before I took out my water bottle from the running belt and had a drink of diluted orange juice, I did not feel too knackered today after my longest run ever..
What an amazing run AlMorr π₯³π₯³πππ A massive well done. Glad to see you didn't let the rain put you off πͺI bet that caramel short cake tasted good π
Fantastic work Al! ππΌππ
Massive congratulations AlMorr. You should be so pleased and proud.
I see you've already got your 10miles badge, it looks great.
Hope you are able to enjoy a rested rest of the day. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³
I am fine, my legs only feel a little, not much sore after the non stop 10 miles in the rain this morning, no walk with Holly today as her owner doesn't like the dog to come back soaking wet, it apparently takes ages to dry a dog like Holly.
Yes AlMorr that type of dog can take a while to dry. Even if later on you can get out for a short walk yourself it helps the legsπ
Great stuff, Al. Well done! π
Congratulations on this absolutely amazing achievement. You are an inspiration πππ₯³π
Fantastic well done. π
I enjoyed my run this morning despite the rain β
I have just got soaked walking up the hills in North Wales. I like the rain, well I have to living here. It was a bit wet though this lunchtime. π
Believe it or not, I have heard that some Spanish people who hate the 100F heat of Spain during the summer like to come to Scotland or Wales for the rain β to get a bit of respite from the heat in Spain.
π with the number of visitors we had this weekend going up Snowdon I think they are already here.
Yup. On the ferry from Santander to Plymouth late Spring 2015 we met a family from Madrid heading for the UK to avoid the Spanish heat!
Santander is in the North of Spain and I have seen that town when the Tour of Spain, The Vuelta a Espana bike race has been there, its not as hot there as other parts of Spain, they get quite a lot of rain in that area of Spain, certainly not as arid as further south.
Love Wales...love rain..cannot wait to get back there on Sunday...x
Huge well done...that 10 miles is a really special one xx
Whoop whoop ππππ brilliant Al! You said you wanted to do it by the end of July and youβve done it a bit earlier. Many congratulations to you and very well done. Youβre a star βοΈ
Thank you very much Irishprincess for congratulating me on running my longest run ever, just over two hours without stopping, I did stop for a short two minutes break over the last few weeks at 10K when I was running 11,12, and 13K but today I just continued running mainly because at 10K, as well as getting a well done as I passed a few walkers with two children, the rain β was at its heaviest, so I thought, just keep going until I finish the run.
I hope you're celebrating tonight.....π
To be honest with you IP, nothing really special, yesterday for the first time in 4 months I treated myself to a special lunch in the lounge bar of my local pub, the pub part was closed, I had a non alcohol drink of apple juice, a special haddock and chips and for dessert, a chocolate fudge, two hours later I visited my daughter and two grand children whom I had not seen also for 4 months, so after today's run I am having a restful evening at home. π ππΎ.
Fantastic Al - well done !π Very impressive to complete it in the rain too!π
Thanks, it was thanks to the β rain that I just continued running until the run was completed.
Might as well since you couldn't get any wetter!
Yes, it did seem to me a bit strange walking back past all the people shopping with their facemasks on and raincoats and me not wearing a face mask and only in a T Shirt and shorts, but so whatπβππΎI did not go into any shops, so I did not break the law.
Just found this post having read your other one. Massive congratulations.
Iβve just replied on the other forum, but will congratulate you twice, Fantastic achievement Alan and your 10 miles badge looks great. π
Well done Al, a true inspiration!
(You always make me feel I canβt wait to get back out there once I get off the IC!)
Your new badge looks good too!
Fantastic run.
That's brilliant Alan, very well done ππ
I'm building up my distance at the mo, managed 8 miles last weekend, it's harder work than I remember but I'm blaming the warmer weather π
Enjoy your treat, whatever you choose π«
Well done to you Run46 on running 8 miles and thanks for saying my run yesterday was 'brilliant', not brilliant weather, I am just thinking back 24 hours at the moment that I had been running since ten past seven until nearly quarter past nine, I sort of feel quite proud of myself, it won't be long until you run 10 miles, wait until it's a bit cooler.
Huge congratulations on your first 10 mile run. Love the way you were intending to do 14k but just decided to keep going. Preceded by lunch in the pub and seeing your daughter and grandchildren the day before. Sounds like a perfect week Al π
Thank, Sandie1961, yes, it's been a good week for me, I was only a bit disappointed yesterday that I did not run the planned route through the woods, but that part is very muddy, if I run another 10 miles in a few weeks time, I will run on that wooded part provided there is no mud, however, in September I am going to buy a pair of trail shoes after I get a gait analysis in the same shop that I bought my running shoes.
Fantastic! Well done ππͺπ½
Congratulations, fabulous achievement. Well done, especially without stopping for a drink.
Congratulations Al! ππ An amazing achievement showing your dedication to your running. Very inspiring for us all. Glad you got to see your family as well - a double celebration! π
Late to the party but a huge well done! Amazing run. ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ» 2 hours - youβre proper tough!
