I'm preparing for the HU virtual HM in May. I normally do a long run on Friday and this evening completed 16.1km (10 miles) in 2hr 3min 15secs. I completed C25K at the end of June last year and have really enjoyed running 3 times a week since then and competed my first 10k race in November. I feel like a different person, having started eating a bit healthier and portion control since last April I've lost 4.5 stone in weight and now have a healthy BMI. I also stopped smoking in Oct the previous year which was probably even more important! Im lucky that I don't have mental health issues, but running for me has such a positive impact... I zone out and listen to podcasts (I don't like running to music) and it just clears my head. Living in Gran Canaria I've had to adapt to the heat when running and it's starting to get rather warm with 30ºC expected this weekend! It would be nice if there were the equivalent of park runs here or even running clubs but not found anything local yet.
For those running in the HU HM I'll see you on the start line! Have a great weekend everyone.

Congratulations on the 10 mile milestone! A fabulous achievement. That's such a positive life change to make - well done all round, may you reap the benefits for a long time 😊
Thanks Linda. I know it's been said by so many others on these forums, but I really hadn't expected to become hooked on running especially having started so late in life (63 in May). I work online from home and had found I was finishing work, making dinner and sitting on the sofa all evening. I now look forward to getting my trainers on and going for a run which really helps if it's been a stressful day. I suppose I just generally feel healthier and fitter than I can remember.
