Well... If you insist!

So I'm three weeks back into running, and Strava kindly sends me an email suggesting I buy a new pair of trainers.

Bearing in mind my current Brooks Glycerin 16s were given to me by a friend who was going to throw them away, so were pretty much worn out anyway, so with an added 500k of my running (I can't actually believe I've run that far in 6months) Strava is probably correct - it's time to get a new pair!

It's my birthday next week, so I'm thinking the timing is perfect, but my bank manager isn't really keen on birthdays, especially at the moment, so replacing my brooks for a new pair isn't really viable right now.

Any suggestions on a sub £50 shoe that can handle running 30km a week as I build up to a couple of half marathons before the year is out?

I have heard that Decathlon do some pretty good budget shoes.

My first pair when starting out on C25K was a decathlon pair. Only £15. They were a great starting pair, but I began to feel it once I was clocking up the weekly mileage. Maybe some of their more expensive options could be a better bargain, although I think I've been spoilt by the Brooks, I'm not sure I wanna go back. I'll go back and see, when the bank balance is low we gotta make sacrifices 👍👍

Fair enough. I got a good bargain on eBay recently, some worn once Sauconys for £24 inc postage - might be worth looking on there?

That's a good find. Love a bargain!!

My friend who gave me my brooks always gets good quality second hand bargains on eBay, but all I seem to find are companies selling new.

I'll keep searching, I'm sure there's a bargain out there for me somewhere

The one thing I wouldn’t skimp on is trainers, especially if you’re doing a fair amount of k’s.

I don't want to, but the monthly income compared to the monthly expenses at the moment is making finding the funds to invest well in my feet tricky.

I'm scrolling through the internet in the hope to find a bargain. Surely someone somewhere is selling a size 11 pair with 90% off 🤷‍♂️🤞

Try sportsshoes.com, here's a link I prepared earlier, they have a big sale on at the moment:

Lots under £50.

If you order from them do it over the phone as you pay less postage Don’t know why 🤷‍♀️ I was annoyed at their high postage charge so I phoned up to ask why it was so high. You can often get last years models, or unpopular colours, far cheaper. It’s worth a good browse online 👍

I was trying to save for a Garmin, but I think shoes are gonna take that money away
