Not very good of the shop to be honest , especially as they recommended after gait analysis πGlad you have got sorted now and hope your soon back on track π
You've made the right decjsion and hopefully everything will soon be back on track. The shop however have very much let you down! I wonder if it's worth a call to Asics? I'm not sure what their policy is on unsuitable shoes. If not, good luck selling them on and here's to many happy runs in the Brooks!
Shoes are funny things. My fave brands in terms of design, Adidas and Nike, do nothing to my feet, irrespective of price. Brooks? I only buy walking shoes from them. My perfect shoes, the ones that suit my long flat feet are - Asics with customised insoles. Iβve got a pair for shorter distances, Iβve got a different pair for long runs. Nothing but comfort and stability. I guess itβs all coming down to advice that we get during gait analysis and in my case they were spot on. Hopefully your next pair will be the right one. π
The first thing they figured out that I needed, my feet are as flat as they can be. I ran without insoles and with different shoes which caused me all sorts of issues, knee and ankle. As the feet werenβt aligned neither were the hips, hence added pressure on one of the knees which simply went further onto the ankle. They took the mould, made the insoles that fitted perfectly both the shoes and my feet and there you go, Iβve run like a gazelle ever since (sort of). Why Asics? Out of 5 brands and their different models Asics and New Balance were the only ones that did the perfect job but I preferred Asicsβ design.
Interesting! I have flat feet... or should I say had flat feet, due to hypermobility.
I had insoles for about thirty years. Then I switched to minimalist shoes ten years ago.
Having arch support or a raised heel in a shoe feels very odd to me now.
The only thing I didn't get in eight years of walking in toed shoes was the increased ankle stability that I had to work on after doing C25K and getting an ankle sprain on my graduation run.
I can (and occasionally do) run totally barefoot, and have the calluses to prove it!
Iβm sorry the ASICS have caused you such trouble, sparky66. I bought some as they were on sales but, even though I purchased a size 7 which is what I wear in running shoes, they were two small π³. Managed to get a refund and went back to my Brooks πββοΈ. Happy feet! Hopefully the numbness youβve experienced will stay awayπ€.
Iβll swap you a pair of Hokas size 6! They are the devils own shoes π€£. Hopefully the new ones will suit you a lot better, and I reckon you wonβt have lost too much fitness Sparky in the meantime π.
I would call Hoka my angel boots as they sorted out my injury issues and allowed me to transistion to zero drop. Just shows you that weβre all different π
Oh poor you π, the most important thing is you get better - the roads and trails arenβt going anywhere! So donβt stress about a thing, just concentrate on yourself. Also your legs are probably doing magic things while you rest, busy doing whatever it is legs do when we give them a bit of a break π. I hope your earβs not too painful. When I had covid I watched a few running films, donβt remember the names now, but thereβs a few on Amazon Prime if you have it. They were very inspirational. Feel better π½π.
My running shop didnβt allow for exchanges or a refund either on the Brooks I bought even though Brooks allow returns. It has put me off gait analysis π
Sounds like you've has a tough time health &running wise. Hope things improve soon.Just a thought but had you thought about trying to sell the Asia's on Marketplace / Vintage or similar?
Ear infections are horrible aren't they. I had one late tast year and was shocked by the level of exhaustion, Hope you feel better soon but raje it easy in your "comeback "
My Brooks Ghost 14s make my right foot numb. I have to lace that one so loosely but if Iβm running for longer and my feet swell it still goes numb. I figure itβs my larger foot. Itβs definitely pressure on part of my foot that is causing it because the numbness fades when I run downhill π€·π»ββοΈItβs improved tho as the shoes have stretched. I love Brooks but probably wonβt have any more of these.
