Following some discussion over on the Bridge, Sparkey5000 has created a Heath Unlocked running team within the Vitality World Cup.
From her post: 'To keep us all motivated and help support each other. It's free to join and the whole country's running efforts count no matter how small an individual contribution may be. It looks fun, so hope you'll join in. You link up one of the various tracking devices you may use and that logs your running. It doesn't officially start until March when you are asked to log a qualifying 3km run in under 30 minutes.
Click the link up in the post (that'san invitationto join the HU team), then sign in to your account and you'll be added to the HU team. You need to have already registered to join the challenge.
My main reason holding me back is that I cannot currently contribute at the levels I previously could and that I still want to.
However, in the long run, every run is a run and I have to learn to overcome my competitive nature. I do run for fun, but I do also like to achieve, hence my previous 30 miles a week. Having to see that as low as it is currently it is a kick in the gut... but it's still more than I used to do on the sofa and it's still more than when I was in so much pain I could barely walk and I have to embrace that.
You're doing great! Its really good to see you outside again and your confidence building (that's my interpretation of the increasing pace π). Once you're back to full fitness this will (honestly, not just a platitude) seem like a small blip. The qualifying week is in the period before my HM so my contribution will be equally low ... but 'every little helps' right?
Yes, it does and we have to learn (the hard way) to cherish each and every run, just as we should each and every day. We can't always get what we want when we want π€£
Nothing like having something taken away to make you fully appreciate it. At least with most running injuries we get a second (third, fourth ...) chance to appreciate π
When Sparkey5000 suggested this, I hesitated to promote it on C25K because of the '3K in 30 min' requirement and not wanting to put pressure on newbies, but on my ride today I was wondering if it might be worth promoting via the Consolidation club. Do you think it would be of interest? (not sure who is leading that at the moment)
