So following my really bad run on Friday, I may have had a stomach flare up afterwards and my stomach hasn't been feeling right since then. It was the exact same pain that I had when I had to go to hospital before Christmas but no where near as bad as the first time. So I gave myself three days off and postponed my usual Monday run to today to give myself plenty of time to recover. So I was apprehensive about this morning's 3K run but I was very strict and told myself that if it felt too hard or if I was fighting against my body in anyway, I would just abandon the run and re-evaluate what is going on. So it's safe to say that I was very relieved that I felt fine on this morning's run and had no problems at all (Apart from a few ankle twinges but that's it)! But this weekend has definitely been one of me stressing whether I would be able to run and the Bath Half is in six weeks so I can't afford to miss anymore training!
Anyway, today's run was encouraging (my heart rate stats were very much back to normal today!) and I have my very first sports massage this evening which I am very much looking forward to!

Oh good, thatโs encouraging news Redcello. ๐ Good for you taking it sensibly.
Of course it would be fantastic to think you could still run Bath (plus it would be fun to meet up!), and maybe you still can. See how things pan out. Keeping everything ๐ค๐คfor you! ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Yes, I hope so too. I've accepted the fact that I may not be able to run all of it, but I am determined to cross that finish line! I've got another hospital appointment next week to talk to the doctor about further tests for my stomach so that's positive
That's good news - I was going to ask about the heart rate, but you schnuck that in at the end. Stay positive. All you can do is wait and see; worrying about it is likely to bring on stomach issues! Try to relax. Easier said than done I know, having been in the same position myself!
Yes it is definitely easier said than done, I'm trying not to get too worked up about it. Yeah my average heart rate on Friday was 159bpm and peaked at 180bpm for 15 minutes, but my average heart rate for this morning's run was 141bpm and peaked at 158bpm for only 2 minutes! So much better.
I would show you the screenshots of the actual heart rate data but I can't attach photos onto replies unfortunately
oh...I naturally have a lower heart rate. It really surprised my local GP when I went for a check-up, that she sent me to have an ECG. And she asked if I did lots of running because athletes supposedly have lower heart rates than non-athletes. And that was before I had even got into running! the ECG came back fine and I just have a heart rate that is on the very lower end of normal. Go figure!
My resting heart rate is fine (usually between 55 and 60) so I just ignore my running heart rate! My first night away my resting heart rate was 71!!! I put that down to altitude and a very overheated room. It gradually dropped to mid to low 60's as the week went on, presumably as I got used to the altitude and because we turned the room radiators off and left the windows open every night ๐
hahaha thanks! My sports massage was great actually, really helped loosen up my ankles! But it really frickin hurt when they worked my calves though, I had to grit my teeth a few times because it was so painful hahaha! My next one is booked for two weeks time!
Glad you โenjoyedโ it ๐ After my first one I noticed that Iโd left most of my mascara on the couch so I donโt wear it now when I have one ๐ซ
