Right, I’ve done it. There’s no going back now. I tried for the VLM ballot and failed but I promised if this happened I’d sign up for the Shakespeare Half Marathon which falls on the same day. So on 26th April 2020 I will do my first (notice I say ‘first’ not ‘only’ 😱) half marathon. There is no ballot for this one, so no getting out of it!
Not scared yet as it’s months away, I know I can do 10 miles but I seize up after that so I just have to get my right leg sorted to stop it doing that. First proper sports massage next week and probably the first of many. Then I have to make sure I start fundraising as I’ve promised I’d try to raise £500 for Thrombosis UK in my application (a charity very close to my heart in more ways than one unfortunately). If that isn’t enough of an incentive I don’t know what is.
You inspirational lot are going to be invaluable over the coming months as I try to get that last few miles out of my head and into my legs. Plenty of time, which is lucky as I couldn’t do it in 16 weeks last time I tried 😂. It will be my ‘first’ because if I can do it once I’m damned sure I will do it again! Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞
Thank you all 🙏

Wahoo! We all love a Plan. 👏🏼 And a positive response to missing the ballot is an extra good thing. Getting out the cheering-on paraphernalia as of now. 🎉👍
That's great! And I like how you are trying to justify it being soooooo very far away... It's very exciting to have a goal to work towards. I look forward to reading all your progress
