Well, itโs been a funny last month or so running wise. I did my first race and then fairly swiftly after that, I tripped in the woods and really tore something - hamstring and lower bum were not happy with me so I had to have a week off. I gingerly tried a little 3k after the time off which went ok, phew! Since then I went on holiday and as much as Iโd told myself Iโd try and tear up some miles while on my hols, it never really happens like that does it! I had some nice trots along the promenade bit, and did a steep hill a few times, but really these were just maintenance runs tbh.
Result? I am prob the most out of shape Iโve been in in quite a while ๐คฃ. My local hills feel like Mt. Everest and my heart rate is not a happy bunny. I had an awful 8k this morning, I nearly threw in the towel more than once BUT I have to think the only way to get back in shape is just run! With a bit of luck the rest will follow! ๐ค๐ค๐ค. Anyway, here are some photos of recent runs,
Hope everyone is having a smashing day, running or not ๐๐๐.

yes, thatโs so true. Just go out and run for as long or far as you feel you want to. Thatโs what Iโm doing. Iโm the heaviest Iโve been since 2010 ๐. Iโve been out of sorts for weeks! Iโve got another race next week, which Iโll be running as Iโve paid for it ๐. Thank goodness itโs a 10k ๐ค
I hope youโll soon be firing on all cylinders ๐ฅ. Being under par is no fun โน๏ธ
It will all soon start to fall in to place again, Iโm sure . The summer was not good for me - I really donโt enjoy running in the heat as much as I do in autumn and winter, so I am not in great shapeโฆbut I am improving!๐ค
Thank you so much Sandraj39 , Iโm sure it will all slot into place ๐. It hasnโt helped that my headโs not really been in it either! Still, a copy of Runnerโs World and a cup of tea will help. Phew that was a summer and a half wasnโt it, I think weโre all still cooling down ๐.
Yes Iโm sure you just need to embed the habit again as you feel stronger. The first few runs back for sure will be rough, but over time youโll find your flow again. I just did my first 20 after covid a couple of weeks back and it was hard and slow. But i know it will come back with time.
Thanks Cmoi ! Thatโs what Iโm going to do, just keep on trucking, but with 2 legs rather than wheels obviously ๐. Itโll Improve. Glad youโre pretty much back to where you were ๐.
Thanks Frenc . Unfortunately I'm only back to where I was roughly 4 months after starting running, so have quite a way to go still. Keep telling myself things have to get better at some point!
Ooh, runs like that are tough for the mind aren't they? You won't be that out of shape, really you won't. Be kind to yourself and run to enjoy; before you know it the runs will feel easy again and your mind will have been tricked into cooperating too!
Beautiful photos Frenc ๐ And any type of running on holiday is always a pleasure.
Iโm with you on the recovery running. Iโm nowhere near where I was at the beginning of this year but at least weโre both moving in the right direction ๐โโ๏ธ
Hereโs to shutting the past away and getting on with the present ๐
Oh, bless you, you had a rotten fall and youโve come back, 8k is a good distance even if it wasnโt great in your mind, it was great in most, including in mine as i sit all snotty on the couch
Thanks Sparky and well done on that 7k ๐. The holiday was lovely but it seems like a long time ago now. Started a new job this week and itโs very busy! Sorry to hear youโre still struggling, but yes, we will be back on form soon, everything crossed! All the best ๐๐๐๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ.
