Knobbly massage stick day after HM?

Oh hullo, me again 😁

Is it okay to use my knobbly massage stick on my calf muscles the day after a race? Calf muscles a bit tight after yesterday’s shenanigans, you see. Don’t want to damage anything else now!

Hi Sadie, no wonder you’re a bit stiff! I’ve never used a massage stick but I can’t imagine it will do any harm😊 Sorry I can’t be more helpful. I’d best leave it to others this time!🙂

Oh they are very good, especially for tight calf and ham muscles! 👍

Thanks Flossie. I might have a gentle walk rather than run though, as have sore knee from ITB friction. 😕 Doesn’t hurt when walking though. 👍 xxx

I had a gentle run and used my roller a couple of days after my 10k race last week and it really helped, just eases things up a bit and wakes the muscles up a bit. Better to put some blood through them than to seize up I reckon x

A day after marathon l rubbed in some of those tiger creams from Boots and walked for a few hours, looking zen-like dishevelled. Was ok in no time.

Tiger creams? Is that like Tiger balm? I am walking a little stiff legged today; I look like I have just got off a horse after a long day riding through the prairies. (But really, it’s not so bad, all things considered.) Will take a gentle stroll later - got to keep moving or risk seizing up altogether!

Balm, yes. The one with sharp odour, like the ones given to ladies who faint theatrically in black & white movies.

you could ring Alex and ask him :D

Have emailed him already! 😂 (But he did ask me to let him know how I got on with my HM, so it is not unsolicited and weird!)

My physio said not to do any deep tissue massaging till 24-48 hours after. Nice short easy run or walk is best. X

Think it will be ok to use, after all it’s ok to have manual massages after races, hope it eases your poor muscles 👍👍

Feeling much better today thanks Agelesslass! Going for a good long (but gentle stroll) today, followed by a blissful (😱) session of gentle rolling. 😁
