Don't stop until someone puts bling on you...

... or hands it to you in a plastic bag!

My first ever HM on Sunday at Silverstone. Felt great for the first 15km then really struggled in the last 6.1... my abs, back, shoulders and intercostal muscles all started to ache and in the last two km both of my calf muscles kept cramping up and I had to walk to stop them hurting! I just scraped under 2hrs though - 1hr 59mins 22s - needed some encouragement from a lady in the last few hundred metres who could see I was in a bit of pain. Massively relieved that I finished it though!

Woohoo! Get you! Blinged up senseless πŸ˜€πŸ…

Well done on your superhuman feat of endurance. That was really very fast! Not surprised you cramped up!

Rest up now, eat healthily and get some sleep πŸ™‚ Then you will be in good shape to start on your next project.

Tt sounds like you gave it everything you had and then some, and you got a great time as a result. Sorry to hear about the pain, but it's only temporary whereas the huge smile from knowing your first HM was sub 2 Hr is going to last a loooong time. Congratulations!!

Thanks. Recovery has not been too bad. My shins have been hurting a bit as well as the usual DOMS. The picture was taken about 15 mins after I finished so I had recovered a bit. I'm going to go for a recovery run on Thursday... a nice, gentle 5k and see how I get on.

Congratulations on your time! I hope you got your goody bag and medal. I heard some finishers didn't receive theirs.

Really bad that they ran out of medals isn't it? I'm planning a gentle 5k tomorrow πŸ™‚

Congratulations Simon! What an amazing time. If I ever do a half marathon in under 2 hours, I am not sure I will live to tell the tale.
