HM training week9 day3 - 6.5k

This is the first day since I started this training 9 weeks ago that I really didn’t want to run. I just felt unenthusiastic and stodgy. Legs were heavy with achey muscles when I began running and I had to force myself not to give up and go home. Please, no advice about rest days: I have two a week, I don’t work, don’t have children to look after, and I spend most of the day every day reading and relaxing. The training is quite full on, but it adjusts to you and your personal needs and adapts as you move through the programme. I think it’s just one of those points where it gets harder and you have to catch up with yourself- I’ve had them before.

Anyway, it’s done and I feel fine. I’ve slept badly for a few nights till last night, and I think that’s a factor too. I’m looking forward to some vegan crumpets and jam before I wait for the man to come and replace the heating element in the dishwasher.

I managed to keep fairly well in the lower zones today - just a couple of spikes. 70 minutes in zones 1&2 is quite a big ask!!! ☹️

If you never had a bad day how would you know what a good day feels like.

Precisely 😊

Lack of sleep can play havoc with our running, can’t it? I am sure the next one will be better, Flick. 😘 And training IS hard. That’s why we do it, eh? The hard ones make us fitter, I think. 😁👍 Well done on not giving up! xxx

Aw, thank you dearest Sadie, for putting my mind at rest xxx

I’m impressed. Wish I’d kept going today but just didn’t have it in me. Never mind, drawing a line under it and moving on—————-

Thank you - not half as I am by your half marathon though 😊 But, seriously, bar accident or illness, I have to keep going. The plan is downloaded to my watch each running day and I literally have no idea what happens if I don’t do it! I know I COULD miss it if I really had to, but It’s somehow a mental incentive to keep going.

Not so nice that you felt unenthusiastic and stodgy before your run today Flick, anyway you completed it and now feel very happy. Tomorrow is another day, probably you will enjoy your run better than today.

Thanks Alan, it does seem to work that way, though tomorrow is intervals! 😳

I had to run yesterday for an hour in zone 2 and it took me upto 30 minutes just to get the rhythm right to stay inside the zone without walking! I had forgotten how hard going so slow is and for some reason I was really slow too. It was mid evening and I usually run mornings but even so.... The only bonus was it is cooler so once I got into my stride I wasn't sweltering! This training is tough Flick but I was thinking how much I enjoy it too. Hope your intervals go well today xx

It certainly is tough, but I do enjoy it! I have 1hr35min in zone 2 tomorrow. Oh, joy!!!
