HM training week7 day2 - tempo run: 3.97km 9.56min/km

I really enjoyed this run. Chucking it down so I was soaked right through my clothes, my socks, my shoes, but still warm enough to be comfortable in the wet. It’s so much easier to control the hr zones when it’s cooler; I didn’t even break a sweat. Also, I’ve tinkered with my zones - max hr now set to 168 - and it’s all much more realistic. I’m in love with zone 3, it’s a lovely cruising pace where you are managing to move along at a reasonable speed (for me!) and it feels comfortable: I think that will be my race zone, it feels as if I could keep it up over distance. Then up into zone 4, which was more manageable today now I’ve put the zones down a little. And some magic is happening: I can get the hr down without stopping, and it’s coming down much quicker now between zone 4 and zone 2. It all feels more “right”.

Well done 💪👍😃🏃‍♀️✅🌧

I was in the zone yesterday with my fave tunes Downloaded Curtis Mayfield’s “People Get Ready” Utter bliss 🙂

I did two slow runs so far this week. The first was even slower than my plan but it was lovely Chilling out to my music 🎧. Gorgeous 😘. Whistling away, singing, dancing Stopping for a chat with the lady from the gym. I was out there for ages 😁. Came home fused the power - again! 🙄🤷‍♀️💥

I will have 75 minutes in zones 1&2 on Sunday. A bit too slow and very tiring ☹️

Within the slow run I pick it up if I feel like it It’s hilly so I get chance to run the downhills a bit faster

I’ve been listening to some of the Nike app coached runs too which are fun I can listen to the coach and my music Best of both world’s

Dog walking day today. Back now and relaxing with a cuppa. He will want to go out again shortly as his leg is much better 🙂

I’m sticking to the plan. It’s working!

Our dogs went out early, before my run - helps me warm up and clear my lungs.

Week 1 Run 2 for me, having torn up the original plan. 4 miles at an easy pace although my HR was quite high. Putting it down to 18 days on the IC.

You will soon be back up to speed/back down to zone 😊

Super running. I’m interested about training by HR and that time down from zone 4 to 2 is a great indication of running fitness... my only attempt at staying in HR 3 was really good until I decided to go up and hit 5 real quick! Something for me to work on for sure. As a novice to HM training I think they key is to be comfortable and so I’d say you’re rocking it.

Thank you 😊 Much as I find the low hr zones a bind (I will be doing 75 mins in 1&2 this Sunday), I have to say they are really valuable training. Intervals on Saturday, which means two lots of 4 mins in 4&5 - it was 5 mins last time, they vary it a bit. My running and fitness have improved no end.

Btw my plan sometimes has you going from zone 2 to zone 5, then back down again.

Don’t think I got down from 5 all the way to 2... maybe 4 🤣. Is this plan online somewhere?

in reply to UnfitNoMore

It’s a Polar plan, but only accessible if you have a Polar running watch. The plan is sent to your watch each running day so you just follow the instructions, plus the watch shows the zone you should be in and the zone you are actually in, with buzzes when you exceed the zone, and it counts the time down in each phase of the run. Very useful for me as I don’t have to remember what I’m supposed to do

Sounds good to me! Maybe as well as a Garmin on my left wrist and Nike coach in my ears I need a polar on my right wrist... that would balance me out too right? That’s how I’d be pitching it to Mrs UNM anyways... “imbalances can cause injuries darling!”

in reply to UnfitNoMore

Lol!

I switched from Garmin so that I could read the screen properly.

I could end up looking like the guys doing the comparison tests with 4 watches on each arm quite easily I think.

in reply to UnfitNoMore

I was very nearly tempted to get a Suunto at the same time as the Polar, just to see how they compared. Mad! I can barely pay my bills 😂😂😂

My stuff is twice the price... Mrs UNM gets to spend the same on similar... so I have to be a little careful what I mention so she doesn’t fall in love with something before I’m ready!

You’re making amazing progress Flick. 👊 So much more structured than my “a bit like the Magic 10 but longer” non-plan that I’ve adopted! 😅

Really well done! 👏👏

in reply to cheekychipmunks

Aw thank you. I think if something works, it doesn’t matter how structured it is xxx
