Hi tomorrow I have a gym induction I have never had one before and would love it if someone could help ease my anxiety by telling me what it involves and what will happen and do I need to bring anything?

Nothing to worry about, a gym induction is when you join a gym the instructor will show you round the gym, the various equipment and how to use them, like at stationary bicycle, a treadmill and all the other equipment in the gym.

You'll probably spend a short time on some of the equipment (cycling, running, pushing a weight etc) so I'd recommend t-shirt, shorts and trainers. Running kit should be fine. Soap, towel and a change of clothes if you plan to take a shower afterwards (although you might not need one because the induction involves more talking than exercising).

I’ve done 2 gym inductions this past year - one in the small gym that my husband and I ended up joining, and one in David Lloyd with my daughter. Both involved lots of talking and equally as much form filling out. We were simply talked through the machines and the available classes, we were walked around the other facilities and the changing rooms.

It’s not at all daunting and I guess it’s up to you whether you want to try the machines during the induction or wait until afterwards, or even another day. 👍 If the former, wear appropriate gear, if not it doesn’t matter what you wear.

Hope it goes well. 😀
