Hi a week on Sunday I will be doing my first marathon in Brighton. The biggest challenge of my life. I did 18.26miles two weeks before my last half marathon in Weston Super Mare on 24th March and I am concerned that my legs and more importantly my feet will not only be unable to repeat the distance but will not be able do the remaining 8.2miles to the finish. I realise this is just normal and the fact I did the 18.26 miles on the treadmill still counts as time on my feet. It is because of this that my family do not know I am even doing the marathon. It will be a surprise for then when I call them after I have finished. It is only this that is keeping me going.

Are you running the whole thing or part walking? If you’re walking then relax and take your time, in your own time. Running all the way through is a bit tricky (at least for me, the preparations are killers). Oh, and l never say anything to my folks either. It’s my own thing anyway.
I too have had a longest run of 18 miles. The last few miles are going to be a mantra of "suffering is temporary, glory lasts forever". Take it steady, don't overreach and trust your training. Remind yourself why you're doing it and you should be fine.
